Greddy, most of the sliders out there could be modified by adding a top sheet to it fairly easily. Funny thing is when my wife got in to the truck the first time I had mine on her comment was "wow, thanks for getting me these new steps, I really like them". :D

I'm also looking for the square tube slider with removable steps. Slee use to have them for the 80, now his website only lists them for the 100 series.

We stopped making them due to limited demand. However we can make them again but I would like some pre-orders first. Also, the cost was more than the tube ones. PM if interested to put something together.

Question regarding mounting of Ken's sliders. Apparently I need to move the brake line off of the frame rail to keep the Ubolt from pinching the brake line. Do I need to replace the brake line? or just slide the ubolt under the brake line?

Can anybody describe this to me?

I'd phone Ken but I thought I'd let him get some work done if I can figure it out from the gang on here.

FYI, Ken said he would make sliders for a 91-92 vintage as well if you supply pics and measurements. I have those taken but finances are restricting me.

What about turning the cats on their side as someone suggested in an earlier post? Do you think this will pull them up far enough so that the sliders alone would protect? Or at least then it would be easier to put just a skid plat under there attached to the sliders.

Turning the cats on the side helps mucho mucho mucho. Now the only thing I worry about is the exhaust tube that goes under the frame but been working on an exhaust pipe skid plate for that. I have a heck of a lot of pictures of my system if anyone wants. HTH

No need to replace the line, just move it a little and place u-bolt directly next to frame rail. After u-bolt was in place I put a few little pieces of vacuum line on the brake line to help a little.

Greddy0, just go ahead and put the lift and big tires on like I did... My wife hates to drive my 80!! And I quote:

"It's too frickin' tall!!"
"I hate gettin' in and out of it"
"You've stupified it..."
"Why do you put all those Outback logos and stickers all over it?"
etc.

This was my secret plan to keep her from driving it... Keeps her in that lowrider of a minivan we have.

She drives it once in a while if it's parked in the driveway and she can't get her car out without moving it. Every time she comes back with a new complaint about the 80. The last time it was the steering wheel cover I put on. Sheesh! I didn't put it on for HER to like...

Jody.

I'd like to see em. :D

Okay, I hope this works this time. This will show the way the tube that starts at the turbo outlet and ends at the cat turns the turn around the body mount and then turns the cat on the side. I think you can see that it is tucked up tightly and for the most part protected by the step sliders. I should add that the sliders are not on in this particular photo, the rest of the older custum exhaust is cut off, and the MAF exhaust as well as the Slee step sliders are about to come!

Here is another image.

And another...

Yes, from the pictures, first the vehicle is rolled to the right, then to the center then to the right again to do the mod. :o The good thing is that the slider takes all the scratches if you balance the beast just right!!! ;) Sorry, should have rotated the pictures.

Just remember, friends dont let friends dramamine and drive!

these skinny Ubolts aren't holding up some sliders are they?

The skinny ubolts are holding up the diagonal support for the transfer case skid plate, the fat ubolts are holding up the sliders. As with everything Slee, it all fits perfectly. HTH
