hand crank?

Still would like to see a video of it starting with a hand crank, I say doable but dangerous.

I am absolutely going to get one of those. I saw the spot for it the other day when took my radiator out. and then I'll probably just fab up a bracket for my bumper. Only makes sense in an expedition style build...

first time i did it, it kicked and i thought i'd shattered my entire arm. then next two times went smoother, but no where near as sweetly as idave's vid.

I started my 78 FJ55 a few times using the hand crank on hot dry pavement but Its in pieces right now.

Ige, it feels like I'm at the top of a compression stroke with the handle at that 7 o'clock position. I've found that the 7 o'clock position is ideal for starting because it allows me to do a quick flip. Of course, there are two possible crankshaft orientations with the hand crank handle at 7 o'clock. It might be that one is better than the other. I should check the timing window.

I'm not sure what you mean by kick it?

Does anyone who has one of these cranks have a few minutes to post dimensions of the crank? It is a discontinued part now at Toyota so I can't get it at the dealership, and toyotapartscheap.com can't get it either now (ordered one to find my order cancelled a week later with the "no longer available" message.
Looking for how thick the rod is, length overall, length of each section, diameter of the pin at the front of the crank and length of it as well. Pictures could also help of the whole crank - going to get one fabricated locally.
