well, I bit the bullet and bought....not just one...but two baofeng uv 5r radios (ham version).
Reason: intraclub comms, and because ana goes on these long distance mountain hikes and need some way to communicate (thus qty = 2). We do have the inreach (for big time emergencies) and a couple of fsr's, but they won't do for what she does.
