used some 1/8" plate to make the skirts.....and an old electrical panel cover fit w/ the slightest trim into the hole behind the Bpillar....

nicely done

the rear bulkhead center section is "designed" to come out in the future to allow a pass thru for the someday camperbox. I had thought about trying to get a small window in behind the B pillar, but opted out in favor of a little privacy if I wanna sink back into the seat:hillbilly:

A piggup with a camper would rock.

nicely done

oh boy, I musta done something right for once:p thanks dude! I really hadn't thought the door skin corners would have come out as good as they did. I know I need to do some more blending and filling on the B pillar panel. I may take a single piece of skin right over the top of the pillar outer skin all the way back to the corner to hide the splice.....

at this point in the game, it looks likes I'll be able to use my nicer front factory bench from the 77...a taller guy might have a bit of trouble with that seat, but a thinner profile(seat) should allow for full travel of the seat. Also looks like I'll be able to frame out the factory rear window to use for the DUH rear window. The rear wheel centerline is 29 3/4" from the bulkhead on this frame. On the 77, it should be closer to 31. There are 78+" to the face of the rear bumper in either case (the 77 has slight extended wheelbase at the rear, everything else is as it should be other than the front shackle reversal) I am thinking I'd like to have the rear wheel centered on the length of the bed(full78"). I must admit, I have also considered favoring the front of the vehicle with the axle just a bit. I'm going to have to relocate the hangers at least 5" if not 8". also thinking about spring over and full floating rear axle. Does anyone have any input on the load bearing aspects of a spring over? Should I keep it SUA? At any rate, the FF is going to be built using the rear axle on the 73 and the front knuckles for the 73 front drum axles will be cut up and the spindles, backing plates, brake hydraulics and hardware will all get married to the rear axle housing and Ill have some shafts made to make up the length. I like the idea of locking hubs on the rear. I really need a dang truck, so I'll be trying to hit this harder than I had been....

I like the idea of the FF build.
What're your plans for a bed?
A stakebed would look pretty coll on that, or maybe an Aussie-style trayback with hinged side panels.

I drooled over a couple of 79 series trays, but they're way too much for me. I'm thinking standard flat, but low enough that I'll need to relieve it for the rear tires, with boxes up front facing both sides.

You would only do this if you wanted the option having a FWD pig :hillbilly:
Say u converted to the rears to hub locking.
If the transfer was in 2wd, and you unlocked the rears. You would have no dive.
If the transfer was is 4wd, the fronts locked, rears unlocked, you would have FWD.

I don't really see the point. Unless i missed something or you mob have different rear diffs to us Aussies. Our stock rear axles are floaters. So if you busted the rear tail shaft, axle or diff, you can remove any or all of the above, select 4wd Hi, lock the front hubs in and drive around for ever a day.

USDM rears are semi-float, so from the outset it would be an upgrade.
It would also come in handy if the truck is pulled behind another rig, you could unlock, and offer the minimum resistance to the tow rig. Perfect if this is an RV chase truck.

okay, so the rear drum full float conversion prolly will not work. I don't have a solid answer, just a thought from Poser indicating that the spindle off the front drum may not have a large enough ID to allow an axle shaft to go thru as it was designed for the earlier birfield. I have not measured anything yet, but looks like I may end up going w/ ruffstuff spindle flanges(after first of the year for stock diameter axle housings)and disk brake rear. I may end up going with a used full floater if I can find one for the right price. Getting the passenger side bulkhead wings patched in today. Had to section out about 3/16-3/8" of the drivers raerskirt- it was just a tad longer than the passenger side:doh:oh well, practice makes perfect, right? it's all done already.

Build a full floater.

Get the hubs, and spindles off a 60 front axle, custom shafts, Supra calipers, some fresh studs and 60 rotors and a couple knuckle rebuild kits, and make it.

I agree that this would be the best way to go. Not only will I have to get custom axles made(stronger), but then the trail spares kit will shrink due to only having to keep one set of bearings, calipers and pads that can be used at any point of the wheel base. I just have to take total cost into consideration:doh: here are the update pics

Looking awesome!
I love the piggup concept. I wouldn't mind a pickup version of the 60 either. :hmm:

So, you've mentioned a time constraint/impending need for this truck, and I thought I'd ask why.
What's the plan for this beast?
