I have over 7400 GXes on GXOR. I encourage them all to be here as well (and some are). It is what it is. I am working on another solution this year.

I view the internet as just another mulit-tool in my bag.... within it there are specialzed tools for particular jobs.
Personally i love the forum style like we have here as it was what i was first involved with on the internet and met a bunch of lifelong friends through..... i hated facebook as well until i figured out how to use it properly.... take for example just a couple of months ago i had a bad case of driver error in the snow and got my rig in a precarious position.....within 30 minutes of me posting there about my trouble i was connected with another local member (that i didnt previously know) and arranged the recovery which went off very nicely with me learning a valuable recovery lesson, not totaling my truck AND i now have a new local friend........ FB GXOR as Dan has worked so hard to set up is a fast communication tool ( faster than a HAM radio???) for putting local available help within reach of the person needing help. Thank you DAN KUNZ for all your hard work on every level and I will continue to participate as both are extremely functional tools in their own way.

But most importantly this was the best ..... real life connections.

One thing to keep in mind is search engine indexing. Facebook groups are great for the quick responses offered by members, whereas forums can be a little slower. But, search engines (google, bing, etc) don't index content created by members in Facebook groups - it's only accessible if you're a member of the group. Also, Facebook search isn't great.

Search engines do index forum content and wiki's, though - making the content useful to anybody searching for information. That's why it's important to document content outside Facebook.
