I was able to get the rig all buttoned up late last week. Just in time to drive take it on our yearly roadtrip. Currently ~1200 miles in with only one real issue (i'll discuss more below).

I was a little worried about having a fitting leak on the various oil/coolant/ATF systems since all got touched in the swap. I purchased an OBDLink MX + on amazon and set up a dashboard to monitor the PIDs as I drove. I figured if any of the systems started getting hot, I'd know that I was loosing fluid. So far all of them have been incredibly stable and i'm very pleased. I took a few tools with me to check things at stops as needed. I'm checking coolant, power steering fluid, and break fluid every time I fill up for gas.

As stated above I've only really had one issue. I got the rig aligned before we left and everything seemed fine. It did feel a little squirrelly above 75+ mph but I wasn't too concerned. After the 2nd day of driving I noticed a metal on metal clunk when I cranked the wheel left. Based on some reading I did on this forum I checked the torque on the cam bolts on the lower control arms and they were shockingly loose (maybe only 30ft-lbs). The noise was the LCA binding/moving. I tightened them to 100 ft-lbs and then took it to an alignment shop, near where we are staying, the next day to have everything inspected and readjusted. I'm so frustrated that a seemingly reputable shop would do such a shoddy job.

Based on the forums I've read here I probably need to adjust the caster closer to 4° to remove that issue (there is a 2" lift on the rig). I have Dobinson UCA that have built in 3° so it should be easily achievable. Here is what the latest shop was set the alignment to:

The next tasks are to cut/fit the running boards. It was a cosmetic task that I wasn't able to complete before our trip. I'm also beginning the search for the right wheels/tires. I'd love suggestions on wheels if you guys have them. I'd like to get a little negative offset but nothing too crazy.

Amazing job well done! I can’t imagine doing that work in a driveway. I’ve done about 50 frame swaps and restorations on various Toyota Lexus platforms these past few years. I tip my hat to your ingenuity and talent. I strongly recommend coating the inside of the frame with a Woolwax or fluid film product. I prefer Woolwax as it does not smell and it lasts longer.
