"Per half-inch of ground clearance..."
$2700 per half-inch ;)

Jokes aside, it looks like roughly 2" off the approach angle if you remove the Class IV. Which equates to 700 per half inch ironically.

This is by and far the best solution on the market, unfortunately the cost is high, but at least they leave the option for the 5k hitch to be installed still. I get it most companies don't want to tow rate anything, but companies like victory 4x4 offer an integrated hitch and then say it isn't DOT approved and use at your own risk. It's not a complete solution without a rated hitch unless you don't need to tow anything. I'm pretty much decided on this bumper, just waiting for a good sale.

At this point that's the tire carrier that is closest to what I want, as well.

I always wondered about those Rigid swings. I do not wheel hard and will not for some time. So, I don't worry about that. I do, however, live in Amish country (oiled and chipped rads, not paved) and this year have but 26k miles on an counting. I also only have the 5k hitch, not the OEM that bolts to frame rails, so I was really worried about bouncing over time. I truly didn't find people saying that it happened to them, but I'm merely thinking of physics.

I spoke to JW Offroad yesterday and they told me they are now waiting on...u bolts. Everything is packed up, they say.

Additionally, there's another choice that I really liked that I'll link to here. I was close to pulling the trigger on it, except you have to delete the rear crossmember and weld this in its place. With a warranty, currently, I'm pretty sure that would kill any remaining coverage. The owner claimed it's possible to NOT cut the crossmember out, but I chose against it, though their bumper looks like a great bash bar start.

FWIW you would really have to go bananas with extra stuff to get a hitch mounted carrier close to the tongue weight rating of a 5k hitch. My Dirtcom trailswing weighs about 65lbs and I assume the other hitch swingouts are roughly the same. Even if you had 35s, an off road jack, and a couple of full Rotopaxes on there you would be carrying 250lbs or less. Your rear shocks might not be happy about it but the trailer hitch would be fine.

This looks really cool. Removing the crossmember and losing the ability to tow kill that for me through. Great design though.

This is a really clean, high clearance design for a really good price!
If I go another round on a rear bumper, I'll have to revisit this!

I had not heard of those guys before. I really like their GX470 front bumpers....if the advertised weights are correct, they are the lightest on the market (lighter than a DeMello, Dissent, Coastal, etc). They are also designed around a Badlands 12,000 winch. I may eventually pull the trigger on one of those if their quality ends up being good.

Considering this DIY kit of theirs for a rear bash bar. I already have the heavy rear springs on, in anticipation of the rear carrier, so weight doesn't worry me...yet.

Have not yet heard about their quality, good or bad. I mean, the DIY stuff is what you make of it anyway. I'm not a fan of hybrid bumpers, but seeing that they have filler plates now, it looks better. But I've got a 460, so no joy for me.

We now have a tracking number.

After 2 yrs of ownership- I’m still a big fan of the Dirtcom Trailswing, no rattles, tight fitting to the body (if you don’t have a OEM hitch) and accessories are awesome - I have a 3.5 gal fuelpax and an extra hitch attached for bikes/cargo carrier while still having the original hitch for towing or recovery. If I decide to change trucks, I just swap it over

Oh! I can can still use the flip up rear window in the back - I’m not sure about a lot of rear bumpers, but I’d be worried about losing this option with one of them

For some reason, just tube style bumpers generally don't really look good on anything but buggies, pre-runners and race trucks.
Agreed, for a tube bumpers to look good it must have some panels to fill in all the gaps.

Settled on the Expedition One Bumper, decent sale, last day is today. Basically paid for free shipping + couple hundred off msrp. Stoked to have an all in one solution along with rear bumper protection! Got the single mount that is tethered to the door.

Dropping this here for those who haven’t seen, believe they released this somewhat recently. GX460 Single Swingout Steel ***Plated*** Rear Bumper - https://nguyenworksusa.com/shop/ols/products/gx460-single-swingout-steel-plated-rear-bumper

Not my thing but might float someone else’s boat.

Spoke with someone at Dissent offroad and they have a 460 rear in the works as well. Won’t swing with the barn door though.
They want $25 to add a bottle opener to it...

I was able to option a bumper to over $3k, that's wild.

I also opted for the Expedition 1, largely due to the reported build quality and the no-clamp swingout. Downside was weight and no integrated hitch. If it were available when I ordered, I would've looked hard at Nguyenworks. I'm in the middle of install right now- will post back when I'm done.

do folks who buy rear bumpers look into the cost to have something custom fabricated? it's seems cheaper to have a shop bend/weld a tubular bumper. with that said i've not looked into having something like this built for me.
