In it's native environment, ready to cruise like the yacht it is.

In all reality, I really do love the NC, looking to get one at some point, especially the PRHT. It's the Fiancés favorite model besides the NA.

I know the NB is better in every way than the NA, but I can't fit in a NB (6'5) can't even close the door. About to actually delete the door handles and replace with a strap on my NA door cards because I can't turn my wheel anymore without hitting my leg. Can't fit my hand through. Whoops.

The ND had it's gearbox issues for a while yeah, pretty much made of glass which scares me away from them quite a bit.
Hahahah

I grew up in the land of Jeeps and Chevy trucks, so the NC even by Miata standards (and its "boat" reputation) was still an absolute driving revelation

PRHT is the best Miata for year-round use. Drove mine through rain, snow, Covid...

ND2/3 gearboxes seem to be better, which is reassuring since if the stars align I will own one someday down the road
We have 2 NA’s. One stock and one heavily modified. So much fun! Basically a go cart on steroids. MPGs aren’t the best but lot better than the GX. View attachment 4123268View attachment 4123269View attachment 4123270

(If you ever want to sell let me get dibs )assuming it's in like 5+ years))

I drag raced a NA Miata in high school in my '72 Chevy C-10 with a mildly modded 350. Beat it by around 6 car lengths, it was quite funny at the time, but perhaps ironic now as I'm all-in on Japanese stuff and have no intention of owning a domestic vehicle ever again :).

Personally I think the ND Miata looks fantastic, and I'd certainly enjoy driving one, but they would not make much sense around here in the winter months.

Hahahahahahah that's a video I wish existed. I also was all in on 'Murican Muscle in my high school years. But I had also barely explored outside my small town (in Westchester NY), so everything is relative.

ND looks and always will look great. Timeless design. In the winter an ND would be an absolute hoot, that would be perfect time/place for an RF. I drove my NC PRHT through a few winters, one of which mean literally digging it out from snow as deep as the mirrors, and it was one of my favorite automotive memories. My absolute favorite automotive formula = Winter weather + Miata + roof down + heat blasting.

The look on my classmate's face in the rear view were priceless :). Instead of saying his 1.6L Miata was fast, he should have extolled it's handling :).

Funny reading this thread as it goes off topic - I miss my NA miata all the time. I cobbled together a very effective turbo setup that eventually trapped 88 mph at the local 1/8mile. But if I did it again I'd do an NC or ND with some good coilovers and leave the engine stock.
Oh and I think I saw Civic Si mentioned - I owned a 2023 for a year and it was a fantastic daily. Phenomenal handling and a sweet shifter, plus 38mpg.

Here's a couple of GX pics to stay on topic. From our recent cross-country trip - Mojave Road and Palo Duro Canyon. I really need to update my build thread.

Just out gathering stuff for my garden today.

This might be the first vehicle I’ve owned where, every time I see it, I think “man I love the s*** outta that thing!”
That's gotta be the strangest looking camping trailer I've EVER seen!

Thought it was a highlander for a second then looked at the wheels and saw the LC bolt pattern.

All loaded up with my tools and about 180 lbs of ballast sand.

Thats just enough weight to overcome the heav-ish mud tires and it mostly rides pretty smooth.

My commute is on some pretty awful roads so I wanted to test the racer idiom that there is a ratio of ideal unsprung weight to sprung weight. The heavier your tire and wheel, the heavier the vehicle has to be so its not upset by the suspension movement of the unsprung weight in a Newton's 3rd law kind of way.

I also have to make up for my 2nd and 3rd row delete.

2" of lift in front with medium weight springs and .75" of spacer lift in back.

Should flex very very nicely. 🤞

Something about it from that angle reminds me of htis

One could argue that it is more a Highlander bolt pattern. If I recall correctly, only the J100 and J200 Station Wagons were 5-lug. Even the J300 went back to a 6.

But...

I think I get what you are saying. I'm not a fan of that generation's styling.

One of my good friends with a Tacoma called me at like 9:45 tonight to tell me he was stuck on a right-of-way near his house. Turns out he was pretty stuck on that right-of-way trying to get to his neighbors extremely stuck Yukon AT4.

Long story short: Yukon AT4 got stuck while tracking down their lost dog. Tacoma got stuck trying to reposition to try a kinetic rope on the AT4. Luckily for both of them the GX is an animal and I have a winch because the kinetic rope did nothing.
That was the most winching I have ever done. The group lost 3 shoes in the mud.

Overall a solid Friday Night.
