I'm not going to lie, in your first pic you showed of the grille I counted the slots because it sure looked like a Jeep grille. But hey, you only got 6, so I guess it's cool...?

Edit: I just realized I missed the pics directly above this post that show the near finished product and... umm.... well... it's a barrier between errant airborne rocks and your radiator so I guess you got that going for you...

Yup. Its an 82/3 Hilux/pickup 4wd grill.

I saw a 5th gen 4Runner in Salt Lake City this week that had a GX460 front spindle grille mesh/insert shoehorned in it. It was quite....confusing....enough that my mental bandwidth was more focused on figuring out what I was looking it as opposed to taking a picture .

Truthfully, the project looks fun! How is the curvature of the front of the hood going to be with the straight grill?
Or can you heat gun a curve in the grill over a wooden buck?

That is one of the quandries.

Its officially close enough i can measure for making brackets. Might look at using send cut send. My hope is to float the grill up and only need side filler. I also want to re-enforce the flat metal piece i mounted my winch controller to. I would like to move the winch controller to the center and have some lights on either side.

As previously mentioned my Garage Alpha grille was self destructing and my bumper cover was already fubar from multiple accidents. (F-ing Weld County) So this was really a limited jeopardy experiment.

next will be taking a 3rd or 4th gen hilux front bumper and mounting it off of that flat plate. It should help tie it all together. I can then convert to some more truck like turnsignals.

Its on order. The first one ordered ended up being for a 2wd. They are different. Hilux 4x4 emblems are already on the fenders.
