I am not 100% sure i will out them on but if I do I have a place mocked up on the fenders. Will wait to see how the grill swap goes. They are reproduction out of metal from the Middle East.

Decently loud clunking from the right side of the GX. Sounds more like right rear to me but nothing seems visually loose or broken. Hear it mainly when the weight loads up on the right side, like going around a lefthand corner etc. Desperately want to climb under and see what's what, but we got 16" of snow Sunday into Monday and another 3" this morning. Driveway is an absolute mess.
Can you feel it when it clunks or just hear it? In my expert opinion you can feel a clunk vs just hearing a pop/clang/rattle (my opinion should be disregarded as I am very stupid)

My body-side panhard bushing has been popping in low speed corners for like 3 years because I didn't realize I had to torque it on the ground after installing a PCK. Recently picked up a few more pops from the rear end which I think are from control arm bushings that are finally done for.

Under-greased or over-greased driveshaft slip joints will make clunking noises that can sound an awful lot like a suspension clunk. My rig was very clunky until I eventually replaced the driveshaft (with a later upgraded GX460 unit).

The only other clunks I've had have been a loose steering rack due to trashed bushings.

Had my first customer today...

A coworker asked me if my truck was a "real hilux" and he was really scoping it out.

Yea nah, i am just to blue collar to want to be seen in a Lexus. 😂

Any update on the headgasket repairs?
Mine?
Fixed last month . Put 1800 miles on it. Had it up to 9k feet and been commuting up to Cheyenne with no issues.

Had to re-drill the holes. Used generic 3/16 fine thread allen head bolts about an inch long. 1 1/4 would have been better.

Homage to my first 4wd.

Right after this the carb starved of fuel and it stalled. Old girl was tired and I was a dip****. Nothing like being 22, fresh out of tech school at your first assignment. Saw this old rig in auburn and picked it up for 2k. Fond memories.

Snow wheeling with 4 Wrangler Rubicons tomorrow. Should be good times.

Somebody gots some new shoes! 🤙
Where's the rubber???
Still undecided on what tires I will be purchasing for these wheels. My current tire on the oem wheel is only like 10 months old so not in any rush.
I am trying to make up my mind on either staying no lift with 265/70 or just throw the towel in and lift it with a larger tire

I have many years & miles on my lifted tacoma with 255/8516, the gx was supposed to stay relatively stock after I did tires on the oem wheels

This isn't going to plan now after I unexpectedly hit a chunk of ice covered by snow while doing a slow U turn in a parking lot...
Now I am flirting with the idea of cutting the bumper to fix the damage, didn't want to go through insurance and if you spend money it might as well be for upgrades right? logically my answer to a busted bumper was order new wheels with zero plan

A couple of points here:
  1. If you go through your insurance, getting a new steel bumper may be cheaper for your insurance than replacing and painting your factory. So maybe go through your insurance AND get an included upgrade!
  2. Second point, moving up to a tire with a taller wall, assuming you're not looking at light truck tires, a taller wall will actually improve your ride in giving a little more flex on the side walls. So now, you'll be improving an already great ride!

Just take a heat gun and slowly push the creased portion back out. Then trim the bumper at the corners and remove the center valance. It'll look fine.
