Noah, congrats on the sale, sorry to see you had to sell the 40. Good luck with the build up on the current rig. Cheers.

update, decided not to sell the truck, minimizing by selling the hardtop and some other bits. Decided I don't want the time / expense to restore a hardtop. Will prob just go with a bestop softop or maybe even just a bikini. I live in san diego! so the weather is perfect.

bump, this project is still alive! I have been busy with doing alot of stuff to my 80 series (have to update that thread soon). Once I am done with the 80 list, I have to knock out the rest of this project and finish it. Once it is done I will drive it for a week and then list it on ebay for sale. It will be green, factory doors, new interior, bestop soft top and on white spoke steel rims with 31 inch all terrain tires.

keep tuned for updates here soon.......

OK, got a bunch of work done on the 80 and now have to turn my attention and get this 40 DONE and SOLD in the next month!

got busy welding this weekend. Got all the rest of the welding done on the body. All that is left is a few holes on the body pieces that I pulled off and all the random holes will be gone and ground smooth.

Finished the dash today but no pics taken, will have to update later, some washer fit perfectly into the huge holes the previous owner cut into the stock dash. I welded up all the non stock holes and left the stock ones. The stock holes that are not used will just be plugged with plastic plugs so that the new owner can use them if necessary.

Next step is to sand down the body, sand down all the pulled parts, mount a towbar to the front of the rig and tow this puppy to the exhaust shop and then to the body shop.

local shop worked well for my windshield replacement - I brought them the OEM windshield rubber I had gotten from CDan and they had the glass in in under an hour

Looks like a great rig mate. Do you have an original color code for it.

can anyone confirm the color code of my truck? it is I think rustic green?

from what I have read the color code on the early trucks was not specified? I only have one vin plate on the drivers side door jamb.

I am debating whether to go with a different color like freeborn red? paint guy says it should not be a problem as they will be able to cover all the green and most of it is gone anyhow.

I am thinking it will sell better as freeborn red vs. rustic green.

I have the same problem mate from looking at the colour charts it could be Jusdon Green or Rustic Green maybe even Deep Green. Here is an earlier thread from MUD with a color chart attached. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj40-color-code-chart.93601/ Good luck. I would keep it an original color. My 2c worth.

Spoke with my friend Shane, aka Aatlas and I think I am going to go with coronado beige. Seems that is a popular color and paints well.
I am going to have a good talk with the paint guy to ensure the color will be even with no green showing through. For the most part anyhow the truck has been changed color already.

I finished up all the welding on the body and panels and then ensured a good sanding of everything. This will help ensure the body shop does it's job in doing the proper prep work and primer to ensure adhesion of the new paint. Some pics. Dash mounts were loose so I welded them back into place.

truck is 100% steel, all patch panels welded in flush and all non oem holes filled with metal.
