Registration is open for the 26th annual Great Smoky Mountain Trail Ride (GSMTR), at www.stlca.org/gsmtr/ . The event is May 15-20, 2017 at Wind Rock Park, Oliver Springs, TN (near Oak Ridge) This Park is 72,000 acres with over 300 miles of trails from mild to wild, something for everyone.

There will be easy and moderate guided trail rides Monday-Friday


Your registration includes: Free primitive camping in group camping area, Thursday night games and hotdog cookout, Friday evening pizza and beverages followed by a Band and Saturday evening BBQ meal and Raffle plus a T-shirt and event decal.

I'll be there as usual, but I think I'm camping this year. We have the same cabin reserved as last year. Wednesday through Saturday night. I'll get a thread up soon.

Was hoping this would be my first GSMTR but not in the cards....youngest graduates from Greenville County Fine Arts Center on 17th and a very good friend has his retirement ceremony (30 years in the Army, we met as 2LT's in 1988) at the Pentagon on the 18th and i plan to attend....will be a busy few days!

Any advice for camping? How to get a site, where is best, where to avoid, etc?

Last time I camped it was up above the mud pit near the woods. Idea is to stay away from camping close to the pavilion thats where the mosquitoes are. If you want power and water then pay for a rv spot.

That's where Allen and I were last year. Turned into a swamp after it rained.

Yeah there is a hill to the left as you come into the GSMTR area. That's a good spot.

Im thinking I'll set my tent up on my trailer to keep things dry
