Group Buy: Innovative Wiring turn/marker harness (single function to dual function) (2 Viewers)

If the ARB lights aren't working all the time, then you've got some bad connections.

Since the wiring needs to be redone anyway, what I'd personally do is one of two options.

1) Tear out all the wiring you put in for your ARB blinkers. Get the ARB harness (triple setup) and have the ARB light, front marker lights, and corner turn light all as dual function.

2) Tear out all the wiring you put in for your ARB blinkers. Get the dual harness and run the marker and turns as dual function lights. Install clear lenses and uber bright LED's into the housing (or better yet, fab in some driving lights). Wire it up as a separate driving/camp light.

I personally would lean towards option 2. You don't really need the ARB lights to be markers/blinkers, and some DRL's would be uber nice there to supplement the light output of the low beams at night......

Thanks for the explanation :steer:

Yeah, my ARB lights are wonky...It is actually the cheap ARB housing and internals vs. the wiring, causing the bulbs to lose contact. I just get tired of farting with them every month.

Based on this, can I change my order to 1 of each? (assuming the ARB version comes in at the lower end of the increase range)

I'll throw the ARB version into my LX and when/if I ever retrofit the ARB lights to be something other than just markers I can tie off the extra wiring. I'll throw the regular version in the 80 stocker and upgrade it at the same time.

Not a problem.

I like this idea, I'm in for one of the regular harnesses (no ARB).

Now I've been thinking about a harness that converts the rear quarter panel marker light to multi-function (marker/turn).... :hmm:

I would also be interested in this one Ebag if you and Gary decide to do it...

Go ahead and put me down for one of the regular harnesses.

Thanks.

Please put me down for a regular harness set. Thanks.

I probably will do it, but it won't be until after this is said and done (at least the initial group buy and the 50+ harnesses are shipped out).

Speaking of, we're already at 50 harnesses!

I was expecting 10-15, tops. Obviously for those of you who signed up later this means it's going to take a while to get everyone their goodies. Should be faster than an OEM hand throttle, however....

I quess you will pm us when we need to sent you some $$ ...right?

Correct.

Nothing else is going to happen until I get the harness Gary is building for me, test fit it, and do a write up on how to install it. After all that happens, I'll be sending everyone a form to fill out with their basic info (name, address, etc).

After all that gets done, then either Gary or I will be getting in contact with you on how to pay.

We're probably at least a week out before anything exciting happens, and I'd guess 2-3 weeks minimum before stuff starts getting shipped out. That all depends on how well everything works and fits, obviously if there is a hiccup that will slow things down.

Hey Ebag,

Thanks again for putting this together...can you please re-state the avaiable options in a summary.

Stu

Can you educate me on the headlight harness mod?
I assume it's to run a brighter bulb. Is that a street legal bulb or offroad only?

There's only two, it's not that complex. ;)

If you're basically OEM, then you want the double harness. If you're running an ARB front bumper (or another bumper with built in marker lights), or the JDM fender side marker lights, you'll want the triple harness.

Double and triple refer to the number of light housings you want to be multi function. So if you just want the front marker and corner turn to act as multi function, you want the double. If you have a third light housing somewhere (ARB bumper, fender, under the vehicle, attached to your forehead....where ever) then you want the triple.

Make sense?

Totally different topic, but to sum up the headlight harness adapter converts your existing headlights to H1/H4. It's a totally different setup, you have to switch housings (most use the Depo you can get off eBay for around $200 and change).

Worth every penny IMHO. After riding in my truck just a few times, the :princess: is begging me to put them in hers.

If you follow the link in my sig to my write up on my truck, you can see the thread where I detailed the lights and how they compare. (Or if you're lazy: https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/530350-depo-headlights-vs-oem.html )

As for bulbs, even a crummy H4 bulb will be brighter than the best HIR bulbs in the stock housing. Better light distribution, better cut off, etc. I run the Osram 85/80w H4 bulb which gets mad reviews. It's labelled as an 85/80w bulb, but evidently only runs 65/60w power. It's not actually running 85/80w power, but it is supposed to have the light output equivalent to 85/80w bulb.

How they achieve this magic, I'm not sure, but it's not considered an overpowered bulb so it is more legal than a bulb actually running at 85/80w power (which I guess is illegal). It should also last longer. That being said, it's marked for offroad use only on the box, so take that for what it's worth.

While it's bright, it's not going to blind drivers more than any other headlight, and is far safer than a lot of HID's. Even proper HID's are more likely to blind you than these. So I have no qualms about running them.

Ebagg, thanks. Do you have a price price on the triple yet? I maybe interested.

Not until the double harness is finalized. Gary wants to knock that out first, and I think that's a smart decision.

I'm in for the ARB harness.

Parts for the first harness should be in this weekend. Plan is for Gary to build it on Sunday, and ship it out to me on Monday. So (fingers crossed, knock on wood, etc) I should be testing it middle to end of next week.

I'd be in for a stock set, pending your writeup. Thanks for making this happen a such a reasonable price. I'll need shipping to Canada please.

Excellent news

Should be getting this soon. :grinpimp:
