Had a look at Nitto's recon grapplers? Look to be slightly more highway friendly that the Ridge Grapplers and less $$ than other brands. I've been impressed with how my Nitto Terra Grapplers have run over the past 45k miles that I think I may stick with Notto for my next set.

Any reason the Wildpeak AT3W or AT4W are not on there? My AT3Ws are at a bit over 40K and in pretty good shape. They are getting near end-of-life but are still super-grippy on pavement, mud, dirt, etc. They are also a very good wet weather tire and very quiet, which are why I originally bought them.

I saw that some of the AT4Ws had a 60k tread life warranty.

They indeed do. The AT4W is a bit heavier than the AT3W. Too bad they aren't selling them for $165/tire like my AT3Ws were in early 2021. They sure bought a lot of customers with those tires being so cheap.....

Didn't cross my mind actually. LOL

Being that the AT3W is being discontinued, you might be able to find some deals on it if you shop around. For wet weather I don't think there is a better AT tire than the Falkens. My only gripe is that they are OK in the snow unless aired down. In everything else they are pretty awesome.

That's good to know. Tire rack still has them. They're 9lbs heavier (A/T3W) per tire than the Ridge Grapplers. Otherwise they're very similar looks like.

P-rated ones are 46# a tire, but the AT3Ws might be all gone in the p-rated 265 70R17.

I'm gonna be upgrading to 33s and would honestly pull the trigger on a set of discounted P285/70R17 AT3Ws if they were any to be had. They are out there, but only in the C and E ratings that I don't want. Unfortunately the AT4W went up 3# a tire in that size and weight rating. Regardless, that's probably what I'll end up with in a few months.

Shame on me, I picked the wrong tire to get that weight.

I had originally looked at those before buying these Ridge Grapplers years ago. Aren't they going to discontinue these?

To add another set of tire specs to the thread.

I've run the Kenda Klever AT2 for about 15,000 miles now without issues. Including two winters in the eastern Sierras, where we've had stupid amounts of snow. The only other tires I've run to compare against them are the K02 and Falken Rubitrek. I think the next set of tires may be the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss though. They're a more mild version of the Klever R/T which people love.

haven;t heard, I thought the recons were pretty new? The terra grapplers may be discontinued, they've been around for a while

Maybe that was what I heard.

IIRC the Recon Grappler is the replacement/update for the Terra Grappler in Nitto's lineup. A buddy of mine put the recons on his Grand Cherokee since he has terras on his FJ and is pleased with both.

I've been running Mickey Thompson Baja Boss since February and am very impressed. They make a little more noise than the Pirelli ATs I replaced, but it's more that you start to hear the tire noise at a lower speed vs the total volume. Cruising along at 75 mph the volume is about the same between both tires and we just did a series of 12 hour drives to Florida and back with no complaints from me, the wife, or the dog.
I've only done 1 off road trip on them but they seem to be very, very good at everything there. We found a mud pit which immediately got the FJ with terra grapplers and a TRD OR Tacoma on K02s stuck with mud packed tires. I drove through the same spot with the GX a couple of times and would just slowly paddle through. I consider that a huge win for the Mickey Thompsons (and MTS mud/sand) since that kind of deep, thick mud is one of the Achilles' Heels of most all terrains.
