I run a Magellan. The new crossover from Magellan is the Jam. Its got built in Topo and normal road maps like any other new top of the line GPS. Plus is water proof//resistant. Portable with like an 8hr battery life, and it has tracking capab. to get you in the trail and back out.
I want it...
Is it wrong to return to Costco after a few months when something new comes out?

Costco has the Garmin 2720 on sale right now for $349.95...

I went for the Garmin 60CSx. I wanted a unit that could be used in the Cruiser, on my motorcycle, or hand held. I wanted removeable memory and auto routing capability.
So far I'm really happy with it. The only down side is the screen isn't all that big.

Very useful toy.

I have the 60CSx too.

Works great on-road (city and country) and also works great hiking, hunting, geocaching, etc. I have City Navigator North America v8 and US Topo maps. Great detail. Topo is a bit outdated but works fine around my stomping grounds.
I have the Garmin dash mount (adhesive) and never have a problem seeing it while driving. Other than no verbal turn announcements (beeps only), it has all the bells and whistles as its bigger brothers. It's a great all-around GPS.

Garmin GPSMAP60CS... got it a little early so no SD slot... DOH!

Awsome other than that... got the city navigator on it and it works perfectly... doesnt yap to ya, but the beeps are notice enough...

Garmin 60CSx also - only downfall is you have to buy the detailed mapping software and for that you have to have a PC. Other than that small glitch (I now have a second computer - PC) it is an awesome piece of machinery especially for the size. Get a RAM mount for your vehicle and you will be golden.

I was all ready to buy the Garmin 60CSx until GulfShores said I needed a PC. There are no Mac friendly versions of that software?

Just installed my Lowrance Baja. Way more than I need, but is pretty cool. I like the screen size.

Not yet - they say it's coming soon, but they've been saying that for over a year now.

I recently gave up and installed windoze on my Macbook Pro, just so I could run their mapping software.

just got the Magellan 2200T for my wife- turn by turn, portable if needed, and upgradeable to crossover.

thing is cool.

gave up on Magellan

got Garmin Venture CX. Very close to 60CSx in capabilities, but much cheaper. Very happy so far.

Seems like the Magellan Crossover is priced similar to the Garmin 60CSx. Would everybody choose the Garmin over the Magellan? I see a lot of reviews of the Garmin but almost none of the Magellan.

for a while, magellan was on their way out and had some s*** products, but the newer stuff is getting very good reviews from what I've read. that lead me to my choice.

IMOP, they're both excellent products.

Magellan Roadmate 800.

pros: harddrive based map, fast map load, excelent accuracy, LOUD speaker.
cons: big, but most of all, battery runs out fast if not plug'd in.

Just picked up a 60csx, love it. I had a Vista b/w. Having a little larger display and color is great. The 60 has great features, it can do turn-by-turn road directions if you need it, expandable memory (2gb card on the way) and VERY fast acquisition. Props to Garmin.

I've got a Garmin StreetPilot III that I bought new off eBay. You can pick them up fairly cheap since Garmin has discontinued the line:

Garmin is king in Africa

By far the best GPS in Africa and best backup and aftersales service.
I use a Zumo 550 and before I upgraded a 276C.
I find the Zumo to be the best ever GPS for bike and 4x4

I've got an old Magellan Sport Track Map. Nothing special, but it pritty much does everythying I want it for, which is mainly to document my trips.
