Turn around and sell it a gain for 1k,LOL.nice find.

Looks like a deal...I say buy, and replace all fluids and tune up stuff to the tune of a few hundred dollars right away.

Also, for style points, when you buy it, I say you turn the tires over from where it sits fast enough so that all of that sheet flies off the roof in a cloud of dust as you head out to go wheel it!!!

NO doubt.

I feel like i should go wheel it till all four 12 year old tires go BANG, and just bring my 4 31" BFG mudders from my 40 with me. :D

Unfortunately i have to drag it back to my place, drain the fuel and oil , before i even dream of turning the engine over. 10 year old unconditioned fuel = bad for 300,000km engine.

Also unfortunate i need those tires so i dont have to buy new ones for 2 months...

I'd pull the plugs and squirt some oil in the cylinders and turn it over by hand to make sure it turns Hehehe...

Agreed. Maybe give the Oil Pump a refresher course as well.

Sweet find!

and remove that ridiculous poser body lift.

but... thats sooo much work. cant i just do it later? i only have 31s to put on it right now.

Unless someone knows they'll work if i take the body lift off. :D

31's are no problem on stock suspension. My son has them on his '87 4Runner, I've had them on my '85 4Runner, my pickup had them when I got it.

okay so today i drained all the fuel, chNged the oil and filter, switched out the glow plugs, aaaaannnnnndd....

it didnt even turn over dry.

i heard the starter engage, and i can crank it by hand but it wont turn.

Thoughts anyone? im open to amy suggestions. this is my first gas engine in 3 years. so i dont know much. im more of a diesel guy.

Probably dirty contacts in the starter, you can pull the cover off the end and clean them. See starter issues in the FAQ thread, 4Crawler has it drawn out...

Or you could pull the small wire off the starter and try jumping it straight to the battery + terminal, but make sure it's not in gear!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

i took a look at the starter and it looked clean but ill check the terminals on it tomorrow.

thanks jerod

hows the battery? if its good it could be the stater solenoid.

Solenoid is on the starter, and technically is the contacts I'm talking about. :D

Hey i might not be good at diagnosing, but i can replace or repair like hot damn:p

I sanded the solenoid contacts, and it works!

but it still wont start!

So me and my dad went about diagnosing it, we got as far as there was power going from the coil to the distributor cap but not out from it.

So i took it apart and yeah contacts were bad so i dished out $30 for a new cap and rotor, installed it aaaaand,

still wont start. :bang:

So now i need to figure out whats wrong, and yes there is fuel in the tank, brand new premium fuel. however, i'm not sure if the pumps working, you'd think after all the cranking i did you would smell fuel by now or something....

Take a paper clip, bend it into a U, find the Diagnostic connector under the hood, and jumper across the Fp and B+ contacts. Turn the key to ON (but not Start). This is a diagnostic step that tests the fuel pump.

Go stand back by the fuel filler, you should hear the fuel pump running. It should also be hissing thru the pressure regulator on the engine.

k did that, didnt hear anything, how loud should it be?

I'm guessing it should be fairly obvious.

The manual i found in the back with a printed off page about replacing the fuel pump should be a big hint in the right direction i think....

SO im gonna go ahead and replace the pump.

Ya you should definitely easily hear it humming away in the tank. Given the cost of the pump, I wouldn't totally give up on it yet. You could have a wiring issue.

Flip up the passenger side rear seat, better yet remove the two bolts on the front and get it out of the way. You might need to lift up the carpeting, but there is an access panel under this seat to the top of the tank. What I would do is get to the wires that supply the pump, and run a long jumper directly to the battery. If the pump still doesn't run, then you are sure it's dead.

Others can provide better detail how to do this, it's been several years since I've been in that territory.

right so its definately the pump, good thing i picked one up on the way home. Thank God for FF discount. Saved me 250$ :D

SO that fuel pump was rusty as HELL.
And i couldnt find a flashlight but that tank is probably the same inside as the pump housing,

I need this running by monday and i cant find any por-15 tank sealer anywhere and i dont have time to take the tank off, so, i may have jury rigged a secondary filter to surround the fuel pump.

I made it from some mesh i found in the shop, zap straps, and fence wire. I think that should hold off any major flakes of rust from clogging up the system for the next week or so. definately not a long term fix.
