I just had a customer call about his 81 BJ42.... He is going to send pictures of his install!
40 series mounting will be different than 70 series, but width of console might be the same, if he has OEM seats.

Planning on pulling mine apart tomorrow to take measurements and pics

Rob,
Here is a shot of the rear heater placed in my 1978 FJ40. The Drawer opens across the heater. Not sure about a 1981-84. I need to find one locally and try a console in it.

After removing the center console it became maddeningly obvious that no version of the current iCrap console will work with the factory rear heater in place. I had no idea what it looked liked under there but it sticks up way to much to make drawers or any amount of usable storage space possible without getting the console up to shoulder level. The beauty of the iCrap console is the storage, drawer, customization of switches, etc. I don't think any of this is achievable with the factory rear heater. I'm now debating between pulling my heater versus modifying real-crap Tuffy console. Damn it

Has anyone installed this console in an 80? If so, I would like to pics and hear about how the install went and how well you like it now.

Completely different Mark, they mount in the center under the console....John AKA Landpimp removed his heater to install the center console, starting to make sense.

Just bought and installed one in my 77 FJ40. I like the unit. It's function and looks totally meet my expectations BUT it is a BEAR to install. I am at an above average skill level working on these critters and it is not a simple bolt it. VERY VERY tight fit. Had to remove the passenger seat and cut two holes in each side of the console to accommodate the side hinge bolts on the seats. Seller was very helpful in listening to my concerns and did offer refund. I would recommend this product BUT set aside at least 3 to 4 hours for install and make sure you have a new hole saw bit. Also, even when the unit is slid back to the max position, the shift bumps the front edge in 2nd gear. This has been my experience with a stock 1977 FJ40.

interested in 1 for the 80 as well

I have pics of my mount for the Tuffy. It may help, may not. I made a plate for the front, bent it and cut a hole in the bottom to permit stereo wiring into the stereo partition. The rear is just a piece of strap steel that I bend and tapped two holes for the bottom of the Tuffy to bolt to and two holes for the stock 10/12mm bolt to pass through to the captive nuts in the tub.

@Blue77FJ40 great install pics, may I have the material thickness of the console? I would love for this to be 10gauge steel or at least the shell and lid.
