Can't help... GB does not have those holes.....

hmmm the GB doesnt have them at all??? interesting. is it and sr5 or somethin?? maybe its cause its older??? wonder why not.

what they hell are the for anyways??

btw- wardamneagle,
i was looking back at your pictures of the hole,
and i dont know if its cause of your bright sunbursted yellow paint or not, but your hole looks much larger in diameter than the one in my truck.

looks like you could fit a finger in yours. mine is way smaller than that. maybe screw driver shaft diameter.

edit... maybe its for a bumper to hold the tailgate arms from rattling back and forth when the tailgate is up. its right in line with where the arms would hang when in the upright position???

I don't think so. That's what the small black plastic piece is for to the right of that hole. There is one on each side of the tailgate and one on each side of the body higher up. Those sandwich the tailgate arms when the tailgate is closed.

I'm sure GB does not have the holes, it has the remains of the little plastic thing like yours, but no holes. I think I remember stripping a couple spare tailgates, and pulling little rubber bumpers out of those holes, but the gates are gone now, and the rubbers are in a box somewhere....? I can not vouch for the tail gates originality to the truck, but is is the gate that was on it when I got it, and as far as I know it had the shiny red paint on it like the rest of the truck. 85 SR5, but I think it has a build date of late 84...
