Hi All
I need to make a few gaskets to seal the sender and inspection plate. it's a galvanised aftermarket fuel tank and the surface where the sender fits is a bit warped, so i need a thick soft gasket here,
What is the correct material to ask for please. It need not be bio diesel compatable, but i do want to fit and forget so the extra cost may be worth it. The last gasket was cork, and possibly not thick enough, but it leaked like hell and just does not look right.
Also, which sealant/glue/gasketmaker is compatable with diesel. I like to smeer a lick on both sides of the gasket, and on the screw threads. That diesel does so love to creep.

Diesels usually use rubber seals and gaskets in the fuel system. If it was tight fit, it shouldn't need a sealant but of you want to use one, its just a matter of looking at the ones offered at the auto parts shop.

You should be able to buy sheets of viton or nitrate rubber at the parts store or Amazon and make your own.

Thank you all,
A sheet of Nitrile sorted it and still checking the thread sealant and will look into Hylomar blue.
Please all, do some research on Neoprene it does not get good reports on the compatability charts that i googled.

Nitrile gets a clean sheet but is no good exposed to sun or in an ozone enviroment.
I would like to have a softer compound, but all good anyway.
