trying to tighten up my linkage at the gas pedal. it's a 1965. after chatting with Mark A on friday he said to close the hole up using a mig. which isn't the issue, the issue is what did the original hole/slot look like?
I'm assuming it isn't a hole but more of a slot the pedal arm moves in.
anyone try using a plastic bushing or similar to make the slide smoother?
second pic is a spare assembly I have
last pic is of a linkage out of a 62 or 63 40 series, but it's different, it uses a rod to go thru the firewall to rotate the horizontal rod. where the assembly I have the horizontal rod goes thru the firewall.

My '65 & '67 LV linkages are both slotted like yours.Could be a factory slot or simply wear.:meh: Pretty sloppy.

Yes, I did mention it. Shane just hasn't sent me the parts yet for the beta testing.

As I said, I do not believe the factory slot was made correctly in the first place, and that is why the linkage wears the way it does. When I rebuilt the linkage in the lwb, I studied the arc of the pedal as it moved in the tab, and welded up the tab in a slightly arc-ed shape to match.

The pedal is very responsive.;)

Form follows function.

Mark, will you keep us informed? I't would be easier to just replace, if the piece is up to your standards.
I'd like to get it repaired, so I can try and make the 45 run.

Heck Paul, I'd send you the linkage out of my truck if that's what it took to get you to the 45 run!
