I just got of the phone with STC who makes soft tops for the LC and 4Runners. Seems the owner sold the business to somebody else, they are planning on moving the shop out of Denver and will be out of commission for 8-10 weeks.

I was just calling to get some spare parts for my top but they are all packed up for the move. Seems that the landlord kept raising the rent and they just sold the company. Once the new owners are up and running they will most likely redirect the STC website link.

This not only affects us but all of the other wheelers like Broncos and old Blazers. A shame to see this happen.:frown:

Geez, another example of "I should'a bought that top when I had the chance."

He did not want to tell me who the new owners are. They are still trying to figure out if they want to keep the name or change it.

As for changing the designs, there is not enough demand for them to go thru the hastle of changing things up. Maybe the new owners will do it but............

This prompts the question on who sells STC products? I might try and find a top in inventory someplace. I'm just afraid the new owners will get greedy and cut back on the quality.

Hmmm, that's too bad. I was just up visiting with them a couple of months ago. He said they were really busy. Unfortunately, busy doesn't equal $$$.

have you ever actually seen anyone there in the shop working? i've been there a few times and it's just been blake and an office girl. i think once i saw a guy walking through the shop.

YUP! I too called them for replacement parts (rear channel for barn doors) and got the news. Gonna have to fab up my own s***e I guess.

Yeah, I've seen some work going on there. It never seemed like a whirlwind of activity, I'll grant you that.

Did you ever get an OEM replacement top from them?

Any updates on STC?

Does anyone know if the new company plans on filling outstanding orders with STC? (including ones that have already been paid for)

I wanted to bring this back to the top. Toyota Owner's Magazine just did a writeup on the STC tiop. Are they back in business yet?

Any updates? STC still owes me a complete soft top that has been paid for.

If the new owner wants to start out on the right foot, please email me
