Fuel Injector rebuild and refresh

Aside from the toyota parts, an injector cleaner and ultrasonic tank really help. I have a cheapo harbor freight ultrasonic cleaner which does admirably cleaning carbs etc.

Injector cleaning device which triggers the injector while you run solvent through it. Just connect to 12v supply.

I wired up a proper connector to the injector cleaning kit so I didn't have to worry about the clips coming off. P/n: 90980-11875. May only work on 06/07 MY.

Has anyone ever seen the isolator (96721-24015) split after being replaced? Replaced all three pieces with OEM when I rebuilt the engine about 2 years ago and I just noticed most of mine were cracked and split. Not sure if it was a fluke or what.

Can you please check if the length of the filter is 13.8mm when you get your new parts?

I only opened one of the 2 boxes of parts, but the filters I received are 11.2'ish mm.
Haven't pulled the OG's to verify their length and if what I received is correct.

I wonder if they had been sitting on a shelf for a long time before you bought them?

I’m debating. I know the insulators on mine are shot. The fuel injector body is also pretty dirty. I have a line on reman Denso injectors, set of 8, matched, for about $250. I’d rather not spend the money but I will. I have the intake completely off right now so the job can be done fairly easily. What are some thoughts?

The bottom insulator broke off when I was cleaning up the intake.

Edit:
I bought the reman. Hopefully getting a screaming deal on eBay. Bought from this company once before and the injectors were pristine.

If you have the intake off. I would at least pull them and replace the three rubber bits on them. Could send yours out to be cleaned if you want. I did that when I pulled mine.

Unfortunately, I need to pull mine again since the insulator failed again within 2 years. Pretty sure the part I put on was an OEM rubber bits, but it’s possible it got mixed up with a non-OEM.

Yeah. I have it off. The price difference from the rubber to the reman denso was only about $60 bucks. So I’ll buy this fresh set. Plus I can get a really good deep clean on my intake. Then I’ll prep my old set incase I ever need to switch out. Planning to vacuum seal after I refresh.

Some reman fuel injectors (FI) are fine others not so much!

Potential issues with reman set of FI's, is rust. If not just freshly cleaned or post prep with oil. The needle can develop rust. New denso in the box, can sit on the shelf a very long time. New Denso FI's, have a long shelf life. But once cleaned, we want them in service within ~30 days. I keep my extra FI suspended in ATF oil, until I need them. At which time, I have Chuck at FIS rebuild and test them.

I typically drop-off extra FI's at w/Chuck at FIS. Extra's just in case any the 8 I need, fail during testing.

FI w/rust, may have a poor spray patterner (loss of performance and poor MPG) and or excessive leak down.
