The shims I referred to are between your arms that you removed and the knuckle. They are little metal shims of different thickness added together. I just removed 20 thousands yesterday as I rebuilt mine and I ended up with 10lbs of knuckle tension. Good enough for me

Found those pesky shims afterall. Just had to clean 28 years worth of dirt and grease off.

Got passenger side done and would have to say the worst of it was cleaning before reassembly. Oh, and setting those inner/outer races with a jumbo brass punch. Read somewhere that dry ice and rubbing alcohol can freeze to minus 60 degrees. Might have to give that a try for the other side.

Probably about 1/3 the price of a cheap harbor freight press... :cheers:

I would guess around $50 for 4 races, but it depends on where you are.

Are you talking about the brass bushing? I used a vice, I think. Either that or a BFH.
