I was unfortunately never able to resolve this problem
What I did try was moving the mounting plates of the hinges, inside the cab inward which did not fix the problem. My hinges had a caulk like sealant around that was extremely tough to work around.
Moving the latch and strike plate around I found to be futile as all it did was make it more difficult to close rather than fix the gap.
One thing I did do was buy the rubber packing that goes in the upper right of drivers door frame body side, and upper left of passenger side, I forget if it’s mentioned here, but that took up a tiny bit of space (not enough for my gap).
Goodluck, wish I could be more helpful, but in this occasion it seems to be a black box.
