FAQ: Timken vs. Koyo wheel bearings? Which is better? Both are a fantastic bearing and due to customer demand for both options we stock them both. Timken bearings are made in the USA, Koyo bearings are made in Japan. Both are used OEM by Toyota in older Land Cruisers and various new models as well. We are 100% confident in either option for new and old Land Cruisers alike.

FAQ: Upgraded heavy duty inner axle seals? All of our knuckle overhaul kits include the standard stock style seal (Part# FA33085 and FA35010 below). If your looking for a heavy duty option due to extreme turn angles, worn seal surfaces on your inner axles or slightly un-true axle housings, Cruiser Outfitters stocks the Marlin Crawler Heavy Duty Eco Seal for all 1969-1997 Land Cruiser axles. See Part# FA33085MA and FA35010MA below. Purchase two for your axle overhaul.

I agree. But add 2 extra stock inner axle seals and 2 extra inner wheel bearing seals and add 4 snap rings for birfs

And maybe not specific to the 80 but on a 40 series there is a HUGE difference in timken vs koyo. Different taper and height.

Ditto on the Koyo, there is something about them that seem to work better and last longer than Timken's particularly for spindle bearings.

Why not take your parts list to Molle? If they don't have all the bits on hand which they likely don't they can have then in a day from the KC depot. Are Curt's parts all OEM or are they sourced elsewhere?

Only appreciable difference between the 40's and 80's is the 80's bits are a bit larger and heavier.

Well, put it this way, if you order bearings from the dealer, they don't always come in a red package. Last bearing I got was in a Koyo box. Really kind of made me mad, but I realized that if we can identify the source part, there is no need to pay the markup.

I have installed 5 sets of Kurts goodies. All OEM equivalent stuff. I agree with Erik to get the rings in addition.

Someone here had that inner axle installation tool. If you are placing an order, buy me one of those from kurt please.

Okay so I'm in it the $115 for the knuckle rebuild and about 205 for the bearings?

Kelly, ill pick you up one. No dice on the winch yet. He said he'd check and get back to me

First day at work and I worked a solid 8 hours. Not sure what the rest of the time will look like. Ill try to place an order tomorrow. Gl

Should be or 200 for the kit that includes wheelbearings. Dont forget your add ons. Circlips. Spare inner seals and spare wheelbearing inner seals. U do not want to be stuck waiting on a three dollar part.

Oh right on. I'm an idiot and read Kelly's post too fast the first time. Ill chalk it up to the Benadryl haha. I have hundreds of chigger bites on me. A few in some unfortunate places. So, be careful out there.

Good call on the extras. Ill get em in with the kit when I can order it.

How was your BBQ?

Good times. Keg of homebrew went way too fast.

Well guys, I told Erik this morning. Unfortunately this is going to consume me for another few weeks so the truck (and likely posting on here) will be on hiatus. Even smorr won't happen this year because I'm scheduled to take a test that Saturday.

Understood. Important for you to take that test, so you can make more money to dump into this obsession.

Study hard, so you can play hard.

FYI, that is not going to stop us posting pictures of what you are missing....

Well guys, I passed the 6 last saturday and am taking another exam this Saturday. Once I pass this one (I hope) I will FINALLY be able to participate a little more. Feels like I'm in high school having to finish all my homework first
