Hey guys, unfortunately I'm at it again. Got word tonight from the tire shop that my front wheel bearings are shot and one is about to let go.

So, per my convo with Kelly, I think I'm going to rebuild the front axle. Would someone want to take on that endeavor for me? If you DO want to the Saturday following Labor Day, please PM me or get to me in this thread and we can chat about payment.

Are you planning on going to the club event?

That one is up in the air still. I SHOULD know by early next week. If I do come and bring the LX the diff needs to be rebuilt

What you been up to last few weeks?

Diff or front knuckles? Those are two different things. Knuckles will include wheel bearings.

Have you ordered a kit including the wheel bearings and probably order rotors cause now is the time

Probably the knuckles. I'm use to saying diff with my Tundra

The bearings need to be redone. I do know that much. If I'm in there, might as well do it all (within reason)

I gotta ask the obvious question. How old are the rotors and who did them cause they would have had the wheel bearings out at that time.

Well haha they're about 2 months old but the mechanic didnt let me know about that. Probably because he lost his ass on the job.

My recommendations are marlin inner axle seals . Marlin is currently out of stock of his bearing kit so try kurt at cruiser outfitters. Tell him erik in kc sent ya. Ask if he has any marlin inner seals to go with his kit. Might as well ask if he wants to send a raffle prize with ur shipment for the event. U need knuckle kit and wheelbearing kit. Probably bit over 200 in parts

You are the man! Once I get stationary ill do more searching on it to get it shipped out.

So if I do buy these parts then that's all I need (besides new birfs which I don't plan on doing now) to do the front axle rebuild?

Why do you think you need new birfs?

Fyi when you order get the kit with koyo bearings not timken. There is a difference In setting up a knuckle with the two. Kurt should stock marlin inner seals and snap rings for the birfs. It might be worth swapping the birfs side to side to get more life out of them. I "might" be able to help you out if it means another participant at the event. And you need to join the tlca if you have not already. And trust me I have ways of checking tlca membership. Might sound like I'm dangling the carrot but I am. We all have stuff to do before an event and I want to insure more participation. If ur not a tlca member I do know where the home office is and can provide assistance with that and provide an application here.

SAY NO TO MARLIN INNER AXLE SEALS ON AN 80!!

on a 40 they have a great reputation, on an 80, something is wrong with them. Mine are already leaking. The 80 board is full of post with issues. I will go back to OEM.

alrighty then! weird but i'll listen to kellys advice.

You guys are awesome. I think I'm going to do OEM on the axle seals.

Ill try to put together a shopping list tonight.

Chevota Rob- you interested in doing this for Jack?

I got it. Already penciled him in for sat
