Hey All - I have been tired of losing track of what I'm working on w/ my 40... I decided to create a simple app to help me organize the project. It is free for everyone to use! It is very much a work in progress, but it is completely functional and you're all welcome to use it!

Here is a youtube video explaining how it works. - you can skip past the first 30 seconds or so of me talking...

You can visit and create an account by going to restolog.app

Key Features

  • The Garage: A high-level view of your vehicles, complete with nicknames and photos.
  • To Do List: I wanted a quick and easy way to keep track of all the things i'm working on and the parts I've ordered. I am sure I have missed some parts/categories. Suggestions desired!!
  • Status Tracking: I always forget when I did something and whether it is ready to be installed... I typically work on the 40 sporadically, so I made it really easy to track the current status and when it most recently changed.
  • Parts Comments & Links: I have too many book marks and I find them difficult to actually use and keep organized, so I decided to put comments and part links within each part. So you can remind yourself where you purchased something, or where you want to purchase from... or remind yourself of how great you are.
  • Truth in Budgeting: A dedicated space to track your "Budget" vs. "Actual Spend." I originally was using a spreadsheet but found it combursome and I never went back and updated it. So I decided to have it in the same place I track the to do list. It automatically updates the overall budget and spend, and then categorizes it.
  • Documents & Photos: I kept misplacing registration renewal notices or other important documents ... and yes, there is google drive, but I find it easier to have the documents live in the same place I'm working.
  • Its a website - you don't need to download anything - I found myself working a LOT from a computer rather than a phone for finding parts or troubleshooting, so I wanted it to be easily accessible from my laptop or my phone. I do love making it a web app on my phone and highly recommend it.

I'm not selling anything here, this isn't a ploy to make money, your data isn't sold - I just made an app for myself, found it to be really helpful, and wanted to share. I hope you guys do too - I'll be continuously updating it as I find things feel are missing, but would LOVE your input as well...

Wow. I hope I can remember everything, well most anyway since I got Elsie in 1982. I have some pic's, old catalogs, notes, about 5 pages of save links. This looks like a way to actually get and stay organized. Thank you!

Yeah I I have little binder of purchased, but I don’t log when it actually was installed - which is often times months or longer. So I wanted to be able to indicate that.

I like it except for the budget tracking part. I don't really want to know that.
In terms of the budget, I am still worried my wife may see the numbers if it is too easy to sum together… maybe a password on that page?? In all seriousness, I could add a toggle switch to the app settings to turn it off if you really don’t want to see the numbers.

I was thinking about adding planned dates and recurring maintenance flags, where once the planned date arrives, it changes status to “Planned”. That way you can put the status as “Good” after you change the oil and then it automatically changes to planned on that date. Anyone have an opinion on that?

My dad and older sis kept a log book in the glove box with everything written down as it happened. My buddies dad who was a B17 pilot in the italy campaign, also kept a log book. He never drove without gloves on of some kind - something about glass and fire in an accident.

I'm going to start collecting up my data. I need a new laptop soon. My black friday one didn't work out - but I did get all my money back so I'm only out some time.

There is certainly something about having a hand written log book too!

If you do end up using it @charliemeyer007 - I would love your feedback!

That's really great work. I'd be interested for my personal trucks, if I could store the data on a local host. I'm not sure I'd want my data on a public server.

Thanks Malleus! I don't know if I can allow local hosting and be able to update it - but anything you do put onto it is using best practice security, and isn't being sold/shared. Curious if there are other things on the privacy front that would give you more confidence?

I do plan to have a "Download Log" button that will let you download all the maintenance records & details to a PDF that can be shared... so if you sell the truck you have it shareable.

Also, I know this is in the 40 tech forum... I wasn't sure where to put it but wanted to ensure that my fellow 40 owners saw it...

I doubt the data would be useful to a chinese hacker. :meh:
I like it. I have been using a multi sheet spreadsheet in Google Docs to keep track of my junk (anything with a dinosaur drinking engine) to include how many quarts of fluids I need and what brand and weight, part numbers for filters, etc. I assume that if I changed any part I can post it in the app along with source and part numbers and date?
Edit - watched the video. I see you can do that in "notes." Cool.

Yeah I made notes pretty flexible - and you can add links to the fluids you purchased. I was thinking about adding additional options for fluids or parts, like manufacturer, part #, etc - I'm just worried it might get cluttered. What do you think Hugh? Would you prefer a dedicated section?

I did end up adding planned maintenance dates & recurring maintenance dates too

I don't think it really needs it. Like I mentioned, I am using a spreadsheet now but I don't include enough info to be useful for my project cars, only maintenance stuff so your solution is better. Having links and pics is great and I really like being able to make note of something you purchased already. Prevents doubles from sitting on the parts shelf! Being able to download a PDF is also really nice.

I have not tried to register or anything since you did not really explain what the process is and what base44 is and if this will need to be a side loaded apk or if it is all hosted on line or what.

Two quick thoughts, since you asked.
1» The concern that I have about data on a public server isn't stolen data, it's unavailable data. There are only two kinds of people in the world: those who have lost data, and those who will lose data. Public servers are not regularly backed up using methods that generally provide access to those backups to the general public, meaning that if the server is unavailable, for any reason, your data is lost. Remember, unavailable means lost; you can't access it therefore it doesn't exist for your use.
2» Why did you restrict the data range to 1987? The last Land Cruiser was made in 2021 (for USDM import). Land Cruiser owners will the restoring them long after I'm gone.

As I said initially, this is impressive and commendable work. Thanks for sharing.

1. Great point and 100% fair, especially because its free. I do plan on that download function for PDF's, but I'll see about allowing users to connect their Google Drive so that it can store all of the photos, links, etc... maybe a datadump button that just exports as organized folders w/ excel files and photos?
2. I have since made a change to remove the restriction - I was too focused on my own landcruiser at the start, since it was just for me haha I found myself wanting it for all my vehicles too...

I appreciate your feedback!!
