Well I think I figured out the problem with all the people that whine about their under powered 2F rigs. Their not running a tall enough tire or a heavy enough rim.

I kept my older daughter home with me today and decided to run up the hill. Not to wheel but just to see how the rig did going up the 4 Lane (roughly 6 miles of continuous grade to our local trails). I was blown away. With my 39.5s and 3.73 gears, I had it in 2nd gear (SM465 kind of like the 3rd position) the whole way and I was doing anywhere from 55-62.

Not that I was slowing down but I was just playing with it to see what I could do. I could accelerate uphill no problem. I averaged 58mph on GPS (it was comfortable) It pulled up to 62 no problem and I backed off as I don't need a ticket. :D I let it come down to 55 in a couple of the corners and it pleasantly came back up to 58 no problem.

The whole way the motor was sitting happily @ 3000-3250. The temp never went higher than it did in the flat lands. :bounce: :bounce2: :bounce: :bounce2:

I do however need to finish my wheel well stretch as the right hand turns were a bit rough on the tires.

Nope. High range. Down hill was right about 60 too. I had to give it a little gas to get it to hang @ 60. The 465 tries to slow it.

Needless to say, Jim C does some awesome things to a carb. :D

BTW, just for comparison. A "guy I know" had a best speed of 60 in his stock 2F/H42 powered 60 on 31s going up the same hill. With his current drivetrain and 37s, he can get 40-45. I had to call and rub it in when I got back.

too bad you dont have more time... I wanted to put you to work on my rig while you are here. hehehehehe.

I wish I was up there a bit longer. I love that area.

Unfortunately my great uncle has had a couple of strokes in the last couple of years and is requiring more and more care. My Aunt is trying to be pro-active before they have to move from their current place. So I am helping relieve the strain of cleaning out a couple of sheds and a garage before they are under a time crunch.

Maybe some other time. I always enjoy putting faces to names.

33's  get your story right

Forgot to post this one. Hazel wanted to help work on the Cruiser before we went up the hill the other day. She ran the impact and tried to torque the lug nuts but I only got a pic of her airing up the tires. She did AWESOME!! :bounce2:

Been working on a trac bar. I decided to go with 1.5x1.5 square tube .25 wall.

I used Dan's axle mount. It worked pretty well. I had to open up the tube radius a bit. I'm going to add a gusset across the back of the bracket on the housing.

At the frame end, I did 2 RE joints with a 4" shackle.

The top tube is 48" long eye to eye so it should work pretty well.

Kind of caught the sun with this one.

Lookin good man...

Can't wait till my baby is old enough to help dad in the garage. My 13 year old step daughter used to help but now she's completely absorbed into Myspace, boys, and cell phones now. Hopefully she'll attract a gearhead boyfriend down the road that I can distract with the cruiser... kill two birds with one stone. :)

Oh yeah... sorry for the hi-jack.

Great build. Really like the looks of it. Tagging along.
