Has anyone here rebuilt the Fox Performance Series 2.0 IFP shocks themselves? I've searched here and Google with little results for the performance series. I did find rebuild kits but nothing on the actual rebuild, specifically if any special tools are required to discharge/recharge them with nitrogen, and what the IFP depth should be. I have access to a nitrogen tank but its just a typical schrader valve for filling air shocks on a buddy's buggy.

I know I can send them back to FOX but I figure I can do it for about 1/4 the cost and I'm on a budget right now (yes, I know 80's and budget don't belong in the same sentence), and I enjoy (and prefer) doing things myself.

They have been great shocks but I'm a bit disappointed with them as they only lasted about 18 months before the passenger one started puking oil 2 weeks ago.

Can anybody help a fellow Crusier Head out? TIA

Have you contacted fox. I've had great luck with them and king getting specs, parts, and rebuild details in the past to rebuild units I've bought cheap used

That's my next step, just curious if anyone here has done it them selves.

Found a little more info today and the cost of the charging needle might make it worth sending them to Fox, depending on which one is needed.

18 months? What about a warranty?

I just ordered these same shocks; literally on the way to the house now. Really hoping your experience is not reflecting the general quality.

I've rebuilt but not that series. All mine have standard valves can you change them out at the same time as the rebuild

I asked DSM before I purchased my IFPs whether they would revalve them before they were shipped to me and the answer was that they would have to send them back to Fox to be revalved.

1 year warranty, I purchased mine in July of 2015, so no go there. I sure hope I'm the exception and not the rule for longevity. Other than the one that is leaking, I'm very happy with their performance.

Downsouth motorsports will help you with this for sure ..

no afiliatioon with DSM other than happy customer

That's who I purchased from, through e-bay.

I've got a leaking shock on the front of mine as well, a little under 2 years on the truck. DSM sold me a rebuild kit, I've got a buddy that will be doing them and taking them to a local shock rebuilder (snowmobiles, dirtbikes, etc) to have them refilled with nitrogen. DSM said 200psi of nitrogen for an 80 series.

You will need some special tools, nitrogen tank, shock oil, good vise.
Your best bet is to find a guy who does snowmobile/atv shocks, those guys are familiar with revalve and typically do a better job than tha MFG.

Does anyone know how to access the diaphragm to discharge and change the fox shocks for the 80 series? The pressured end of the shock has a threaded end to mount to the chassis, and the end of the threaded stud has an allen hex. I assume the fill port is under that stud, but don't want to launch tools across the garage if I'm wrong.

Thanks!
