I wonder how these differ from the ones I have been running for a while now.

Was in the immediate market for shocks and had the funds so just jumped all over these. Great deal so couldn't pass up. Supposed to be here next week Wednesday. Not sure when I'll get them installed though. Won't get much off road time for a while either, just street DD but I'll try to report how they are.

I just called Fox today, and got a cutaway schematic of their the 80 front shock. It really does not mean much to me, but PM me if you want it). They said that the valving is pretty heavy, and should provide a better ride for a heavier versus a lighter vehicle on the highway, but not knowing 80s specifically, it was pointless to talk to them about on vs off road, what accessories we have, etc. (Edit:) Guy confirmed that these shocks are fully rebuildable, but you gotta send them in to do so.

Comparisons in length from OME and Fox specs:

Shock OME Nitro Sport FOX IFP 2.0
PN 60018 (Front) 985-24-070 Front
Extended 24.3" (617mm) 24.85
Compressed 14.1" (359mm) 14.75

So the Fox is a bit longer, more attention may need to be paid to bump stops (do you need BS extensions with a 2.5" lift?)

Screw it. I'm gonna get the Foxs and see how they go. I'm about to install a total frankenlift anyway (Iron man 2.5 front springs, OME 860 rears, 60020 rear shocks, then the foxes.)

I run factory BS w/my OME 2.5" and OME shocks.

So did he say the Fox's are specifically valves for an 80 or just for a heavier vehicle?

He did not say they were specifically valved for an 80. But one has to assume that they gauged the valving for the weight of the 80, as the part number is exclusive to the 80.

Just pulled the trigger on them. Asking for them on ebay was 241.99, but they had a best offer link. I offered up $230 and they accepted. So, $115 each for Fox 2.0 rebuildables. I'm excited.

 :bang: I'm an idiot. Didn't even notice the best offer and paid the 241 :bang:. Well done on bargaining skills. Oh well still a great deal for me too. I received mine this past Tuesday and Lord willing I'll get them in tomorrow. As straight forward as it is something always seems to happen.

You must give us a before/after review! Also what acc. weight you have. Thanks!!!

Sure will. Basically the only weight now is Kaymar rear. Have 50mm TJM progressive springs.

I'm ARB in the front, will be moving from stock height + 30mm spacers (front) to 2.5" + 30mm spacers. So my sprung weight gain is like 60lbs for the ARB. I expect a sports car ride...

All right I was able to get them installed on Saturday! The combination of getting my castor dialed in more with the drop brackets, and new shocks, the ride is night and day. No more jarring and all the bumps are absorbed nicely. It will ride even better as more weight is added I'm sure (BIOR tube bumper and dual batt planned). With my wife and two boys on the way to church this morn even that weight made a slight difference as opposed to just myself on the first test drive...I think...may have been a placebo affect but don't care it rides awesome. Even my wife commented on how it wasn't enjoyable riding in it anymore and now she loves driving/riding in it. Now you have to understand I removed OME shocks with over 100k on them and two were shot for sure. Plus the other two Cruisers I owned were all stock (94 & 96) over 10 years ago. So with those things in mind others with more experience may not have the overwhelming noticeable difference I am experiencing. Just trying to keep it in perspective. At any rate I love them and stoked my rig is like new to me again!

These are very high on my priority list. I actually called Downsouth today to see if I could expedite them for an upcoming trip but no go sadly. I need to just put my order in so they show up eventually. I handled some for a JK at my local offroad shop and they seem nicely built.

92LXAZ, are you still liking the ride?

Yes I do. Just DD so no trail activity but extremely happy with them. Although anything would have been an improvement over what I had. But good to get a quality set for the price they had them at.

Nice. So you kept the factory springs, aye? Just swap the shocks and install the "drop brackets"? Total cost under 3 bills?

Do these cOme in a 2.5 12" variety?
..

No, I believe the IFP models are 2" only. Fox does however make a 2" stem top with external compression and rebound adjustment. It's near 3x the money of what the IFP models are, but it's a true user rebuildable Fox resi, and I think that would be the balls at least for the rear...until the majak 3 link is done.

No I have TJM 50mm springs. Luckily I got the drop brackets from a fellow Mudder for $100, saved a ton, retail they are $225 from Man-a-fre. More like just under 6 bills after brackets and front and rear shocks.

Im going to be ordering the 3-4" lift shocks to go with my Slee springs. Interestingly the front shocks are the same ones used on the Nissan Patrol Y91 or something. Not a big surprise I guess they are very close in weight.

Also going to get there shock shaft shields since my OME shocks where completely sand blasted and dented from rocks after 3 years use.

Anymore feed back on these gonna order me up some from Flea Bay..
