I'm looking to replace the FJ40 I sold 7 years ago. I would say it was a mistake but it helped get my girls through college. I would appreciate any leads. I prefer a "75" or newer. This is to be a project not a true restoration. I have set up alerts on CL. EBAY, and Google. Everything I get so far is on the other side of the country or ridiculously priced. Thanks in advance.
What is your budget? Is there a specific color you are looking for?

You'll really have to narrow it down. $5000-$7500? $7500-$10000? $10000-$15000...How much work are you wanting to do?

Just give a window maybe and it will make it easier for you.

Driver, definitely. I don't care what motor is in it , it will be yanked anyway, as long as it is dependable. I prefer that the original 4spd and transfer case are still in place. I don't mind replacing a body panel here or there. Patching a few holes. But rebuilding an entire or purchase of a new tub is out of the question. It must have the hardtop and a good roof.
Its not the shipping alone. I will not buy a vehicle I don't inspect myself. The round trip airfare on short notice can get pricey. I have a few leads for local, in state, FJs. I'm not in a hurry. And I am wary of each and every ad

You might want to touch base with Marshall Shepherd at Trollhole's Cruisers here in Greenville and maybe the guys at ACC in Atlanta as they might have a customer who is ready to part with a vehicle. Peter Merriam in Atlanta is another mechanic but smaller scale than Trollhole's and ACC. I got my 88 FJ62 from a customer of Peter's that had left it at the shop for 9 months! Marshall connected me with a friend who had mentioned to him he was thinking of parting with his Tan 76 FJ40 which is exactly what i was wanting. Will keep my eyes and ears open for you!

Wow! Thanks for the info

Something wacky with your link. It took me to Outlook web access screen instead of Sarge Knives page.

Sorry this is the link. Its a great knife to keep in a go bag or just in your car. I can't tell you how many times I have had to cut seatbelts to get people out of wrecked cars! You never know when you will need it. Plus it supports my fallen brother and a local company in Greer SC

Thanks everyone

Aldis. Has timber ridge camping equipment if anyone needs a cheap summer bag or tent. Also had chairs and led lantern but unsure on prices. Had a 8 person dome tent for 69.99.

I need to find a 4 speed flywheel inspection cover. Have a like new powder coated 3 speed cover.... Useless to me.

The 4 speed cover should look like this :

Thats one for a 60 or a splitcase 40. You sure you want that one?

Not this one? 74-80 See how the two front holes are symmetrical. On a 1980 and up is on the side of the bellhouseing

Actually, you are correct sir. My mounting holes are symmetrical. Great observation. I must have a the 74-80 case :

And the exhaust might be in the way slightly, also.... I have the 3 speed cover (almost like a bowl) that was in a parts box. Do you have ' can you get your hands on the one in your pic ???

WTB, used FZJ80 front long and short axles, and birfield(need for spares). Also, steering gear box, used, also for a spare to rebuild.

I have been contemplating this trailer for a month now. He has come down already. Needs a new bed at the very least and of course is missing the pintle. I need to do something for camping and next years trip to spring tide ride. Any thoughts?? I would eventually want a pintle style connection but not necessary at this time as long as there is not issue on the beach.

Looks like more trouble than it's worth to me. Hold out for a solid tub and spend $400-500 and you'll come out ahead.
