Checked the door, its an 84. NOthing has been done to the title, I was just misimformed and never checked. The vin matches the title, everything is legit. Is the truck overpriced? I thought the all stock cruisers are the ones people wanted? It starts perfect after sitting for a month, would make someone a nice daily driver or trail rig. I would drive it anywhere. It does NOT have AC. I did the tuneup for the guy who was supposed to buy it, and he insisted that he did not want the AC, so I took it out. I am about to donate the truck for a tax writeoff! Anyway, if someone wants a dent free, rust free, unabused 60, let me know, thanks, john

The year thing on the title may have just been somebody bypassing smog laws.

DMV hook-ups will let you 'retitle' a car as older to get exempt.

Also, here in CA, a car has to be older than 1973 to be smog exempt.

John- Sorry your deal fell through. This is a very good priice for a California truck!!

I have a friend who has expressed interest in a 60 after seeing and riding in mine. I'll give him a call.

Feeel kind of bad about the AC...

Mike

krzy - there was a swb posted from (I think) VA. Search the classifieds for a post from Stumbuagh - it wasn't his but he found the truck and posted it up. Also keep an eye on the 45 classified section.

The 45 I have was brought in from Oz about three years ago. It was over 25 years old and came right in. I can say that you're more likely to find a 45 there--whatever the condition--than you are going to in North America. Don't be afraid of the price because you'll pay less there than you will here. Yes, you'll have to pay shipping; however, it is not that onerous as you may imagine. Fly over, find a truck, buy, roll-on, come back, wait for it to hit port, roll-off, then road trip from Houston or New Orleans to Tennessee. Very easy.

I did a lot of work on mine and am quite happy with the result. Consider that it will be a labor of love over a number of years and it will not be so daunting. And frankly, I LOVE the fact that it's right-hand-drive as it gives the truck a unique flavor, great curb appeal and does not diminish it's utility/offroad ability one iota. Go for it and good luck!

dieseldog, I guess it would give me a chance to take that trip over there that me and the better half have been talking about. The darn plane tickets are just so darn high.

I'll keep looking around and hopefully something will come up. The wife thinks I have lost my mind right now trying so hard to find one I could afford and fix up. I just teel her I never really had a good one to start with.

Thanks much ya'll. 41 days now.

If you really want one, don't waste your time looking for that cheap price. All the time spent looking would be better spent working on a rig or even better- driving it.

1984 Bj42 Fs

This is a 1984 BJ42 that I’ve owned for the past 12 years. I’ve decided to sell it b/c at this time I don’t have the time and motivation to fix it up again. It has 145,500 km (91,000 mi.) on the clock. This is the correct number. I bought it near Montreal; it had always been in the hands of one family, 2 brothers and a brother-in-law and had only 72,000 km on it at the time. I’m now proud to say that I’m the one who’s owned it the longest and driven it the furthest. The 1984 BJ42 represents the last year that these were produced, so its collector value is enhanced. Mine was built in March ’84. When I bought it, I had no idea how lucky I was to find one and actually land it. I had become an Autotrader junky by that time and it was more than 3 years later before I even saw another one for sale. I have only ever seen 3 other 1984s with my own eyes. They are the most rare of the ‘42s. Very good condition, some rust to deal with. E-mail for details and pics.

Hi Mike, so you are selling that beauty eh. You should post a pic so the guys can see it.

Regards,

Louis

Good luck. I hope it finds a good home. Mine has a manufacture date of July 1984--three months from the last units.

We'll see how it goes, Louie.

It has absolutely nothing to do with our conversation earlier today about JDM BJ74s!

I'm trying to figure out how to decrease the size of my jpg's so they will upload...

:)

I'll also move this to the FS section.

I was going to post some pics for ya Mike (the ones you sent me), but I have deleted them. In any case, this is an excellent rig, it was out of my league when I was shopping but was by far the best example I saw except for the RADD restored truck in San Diego that the seller wanted $26k USD for.

WTB locked Fj80

A local cruiser for sale got me interested in 80s, though I think it has been sold. I
need to trade from my current 40 to a different cruiser and a built 80 would be tits.
My only absolute requirement is it to be equipped with lockers... no build to as wild
as it gets is fine. A nice exterior would be great, but I think one that's bashed up
would better fit my budget. Miles aren't a real concern as long as it runs strong.
early years are more likely to fit, though I'm not partial. Any color 'cept red is fine

Notes
price: $10k or under.

+'s: Built and Bashed.
interested in a trade for a 40 worth about $3k
-'s: not locked
red

Location: Northern California, Bay Area would be great so I can check it out. Reno
to Fresno if I can make it work. The nation if it fits the bill just right and I can get
someone to check it out for me.
