I got some more info on this vehicle, for those that might be interested. The seller says it a 1986, not the 1984 he advertised. He also say's he's not certain it an Allison transmission. Here's the other email he sent out:

"Thank you for your response about the Toyota Land Cruiser. There are a very large number of people interested in the vehicle so I'm going to send out one letter to a large number of people and try to address it to everyone. I'm going to be home all day Monday 6/05 and I'm going to have an Open Truck of sorts. Please stop by anytime from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm. The Truck is parked on California st. near 62nd. Please Email me to let me know when you will be stopping by so I can be outside to meet you. If you're running late please call. Please do not call with questions about the truck. I will only answer questions in person and in Emails. My # is 510-601-1941. If you can not make it Monday, Email me with some good times for you so I can try to make something work. The vehicle has no title. Because it is older than 15 years we did not need a title to register it in NH. We will fill out a bill of sale for the next owner printed from the California DMV online site. It has a temporary California registration right now. The interior is in good shape. There is no mold or anything funky. The Truck has good seals and does not leak. There is definitely some wear in the cloth seats. We have seat covers on the front seats. We drove mostly highway miles in the vehicle and also did some 4-wheel drive through snowy conditions on dirt roads. The truck handles well with 4 wheels engaged. The clutch goes smoothly through all 5 gears and reverse. The mileage is 138,158. Thanks again for your replies. Joe"

gone

The owner just e-mailed to say it's no longer available, whatever that means.

By the way, I don't know that much about HJ's but shouldn't it have had
kilometers per hour in the outer ring of the speedometer?

I received his emails as well. That was one of the things that bothered me as well. Also that it was in CA for 4 years and only has a temporary operating permit.
Guess I'll keep looking. I would prefer a 70 series anyway.

M416 with Eezi-Awn tent. Dallas Tx

Life dictates I let this go.

Lots of custom features. M416 with custom axle with trailer brakes and hubs to match a Cruiser. Custom 14 ga. metal lid and steel fenders. Extended hitch. Completely sand blasted and ready for paint.

The eezi-awn is a T-top tent. It has a custom base to raise the tent to take advantage of the tent's lower room. The tent can be used raised, lowered, or taken off and used on a vehicle.

Lot's of time and dollars invested. I have many more pictures of the build up for those interested. Feel free to email on the specifics I left out. Asking 5k.

anything canadian through NH or VT is usually fishy, very loose registration aka lack of importation laws... Just my $.02 on it bveing a former vermonter ;)

damn.
that's nice!

I really wish I was closer to TX.

Have you had any luck getting in touch with RK?

have'nt heard anything yet, discussing a project with a gentleman thats moving and one in western NC, but still reallly looking for something inVA

What part of VA are you in? I'm in Hampton roads. I know of one FJ40, that might be for sell but I don't think it is a project type. It's in pretty good shape stock. 74 i think.

Didn't you just get building that thing???

Awesome looking setup Chad.

That would be a nice addition for our expedition style camping...

PS - Had the 40 out and about with the top off today. ;)

I am really only interested in a project truck. The two people that have contacted me have very interesting vehicles but the distance is my only reserve
