Do you know any specifics? How much $$$, year, miles, etc? Los Gatos is close to me but not close enough to see something over priced or mechanically poor.

Guys I do believe he sold it, he parked it close to a mall. With 3500 on the window. It didnt take long, to sale it I would say.

I called him on Sat. several times, cause I went by and looked at it on Friday. But no answer or return call so I say he sold it, plus Sunday it was gone.

FJ40 Project For Sale $2500

Alright here is the deal. I'm considering selling off one of my projects due to work constraints and lack of time to tinker with them. I have a 1971 Fj-40 that I purchased last year as a project and never really got anywhere with. I'll describe it and the parts to the best of my ability.

1971 FJ-40 Body- has significant rust in the both rockers and the driver side pan is pretty much gone. Rear corners also have significant rust and there is a piece of diamondtred steel that has been welded over the originial cargo floor in the rear. I have already knocked out the rusted metal and bondo put in by the PO. Its ready for sand balsting. This stuff will be easily fixable in you or someone you know has an sheetmetal fab/welding skills. I knew this vehicle had this rust when I purchased it. My intentions were for it to be a good run around/trail truck. I don't mean to scare anyone with the rust issue, I am used to dealing with Willys Jeeps that are 3 times this bad, just want to be up front in stating that its probably not a world of wheels candidate. All other body parts (hood, bib, fenders, etc) are in good condition. I also have the original doors that have a little rust at the window sill. These would make great hard half doors (why I kept them)

Motor-The engine was replaced by the PO with what is supposedly a 79 2F. The engine has a Rochester 2G carb on it. I have had this carb rebuilt but I still have a hard time getting it adjusted to run smooth. I would recommend the new owner to use this carb as a stand-by trotline weight. The engine has a 6-in-1 header and ran smooth before I went through the carb rebuild. The exhast system probably needs replacing. I have also installed a pertronix electronic ignition system that works great.

Tranny-Trans is a floor shift three speed with the factory three speed case.

What it doesn't have-It is missing both the front seats. I have both rear long jump seats but they will not currently fit in the vehicle due to the fact it has a later model FJ-40 roll bar in it. The guage cluster glass is cracked and I'm pretty sure most of the gauges do not work.

Extras-OK here is the good part.
-late model cruiser hard top and doors. 77 model year I beleive
-a set of ambulance doors for the above hard top
-a complete 76 model Chevrolet 350 four bolt main that was running when pulled out of a friends cruiser (he went to a vortech motor)
-a GM SM420 with the correct bellhousing for the 350
-an adapter made by AA to adapt the SM420 to the three speed t-case
-an extra three speed t-case
-a 1984 Toyota truck front axle complete (just missing one lockout hub) to do a disk brake conversion on the front
-extra pair of fj40 springs if someone was wanting to do a spring over and use an extra leaf
-a complete set of 2.5 inch Rancho lift springs
-a brand new set of 1.5 inch lift shackles from Spector
-a rebuild kit for the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder

If you give him a call he can tell you what ever you want to know, super nice guy. I think he's looking to get around 8k. Too high for me but maybe not for someone else. Not sure on any specifics. 2F, disc brakes in front...thats about all I know. Good luck.
 
Will it pass smog??? Have you had it inspected for the motor swap??? How about A/C??

Thanks for helping me look. I located one and am just waiting on the seller to set up the transport company. I should have it next week. I will post up in the 80 section when it is official.
