I'm thinking of doing a meat hot oil fondue for dinner on the con.

Good/bad idea?

Outdoors is the best place to do hot oil fondue. Cast iron dutch oven, oil and cubed seasoned meat. We do it all the time when fishing out at Pyramid Lake.

Start heating that grease :D

Fondue is good anywhere anytime.

Agreed, I still use my parents electric fondue pot at home (full on early 70's pea green pot and wooden sticks). Nothing like sitting around the table searing chunks of goodness :D

and if you're driving a rugged diesel, well, you can recycle the oil on the spot so you don't have to carry it back... :)

I emailed my folks last night after reading this post to see if they still had the bright orange 70's-era fondue set I remember seeing but never using. No go. They got rid of it when they moved a few years back. Used it once approx 1976. Dammit. I remember digging the long handled forks with the wooden handles tipped in different colors. I really need to go rummage through what they still have before they get rid of it all. 13" b&w tv, anyone?
