I've started mine as well, thanks for posting the pics.

The chrome is flaking and I can't decide if I should just sand it flat or try and remove it. I'd hate to get this mod done just to have it start flaking off.

Thanks TreerootCO, exactly what I needed.

I cannot get the pics in the last to posts to load on the iPad, will try the desk top later, so I apologize if this question is answered in those pics.

Do you remember what material you used for the wire frame that the attachment tabs and the screen is welded to?

Also, do you remember how you bent that material so precisely to match the opening? Could you use the surround or the screen for a jig? Did you use heat? That is a he## of a job matching the radiuses of the opening.

Adios Sombrero !

Here's how mine turned out.

cool thread, is the round bar you used to make the outer edge pliable enough to bend by hand OR did you have to heat it up?

Noah

Vice grips, no heat

My contribution to this thread.

treerootco- I'm attempting to duplicate your excellent work here. I just sent pictures from your thread to The Western Group to obtain the same wire mesh you used, and they are asking me the following questions to narrow down exactly what you have- please let me know if you can help answer them! Here goes:

The Western Group wrote: "The attached photos you sent appear to be a woven wire screen in a Double Weave style crimp. What I would need in order to quote you is the following:

1) The size panel you require: Width and length.

2) The opening of the screen you need. If you want a duplicate of the attached pictures just measure the inside of opening, wall to wall.

3) The diameter of the wire.

4) What type of material you need: plain steel (hi-carbon) or stainless steel. The attached appears to be plain steel or hi-carbon, but please verify."

Thanks!
