Resurrecting this thread. Has anyone considered the side mirrors for an FJ70 and 79 series? The one with the LED turn lights? Based looks suspiciously like the 62 base. It also can be purchased with gaskets.

I put brand new 76 series genuine electric mirrors on my HJ61. FJ62 will be the same.

They cost an absoloute fortune, but I really wanted the electric ones.
They plug straight in a electric works amazing, super smooth.

The mounting isn't 100% perfect, but it's definately close enough. There is a small hump where it doesn't sit flush, but unless you were looking for it you would never notice.

The biggest disappointment is the angle of the driver's side isn't great. Probably because the seating position would be different between 60 and 70 series.

The mirrors fold in and hyper extend in case you bump them into something. I have to hyperextend the drivers side a tiny bit so I get the mirror angle correct.
It's pretty hard to explain!

The passenger side is perfect and I definately recommend it.

If I was clever I could 3d print or make some sort of wedge that would push the angle of the driver's side out a tiny bit. I might look into it one day, but hopefully someone smarter than me invents one.

So overall I'm sort of happy with it. Way better than the cheap aftermarket rattling junk I had. The mirrors would be perfect if the driver side angled out a tiny bit.

I'd definatley recommend an electric passenger mirror, and probably just get a 60 series manual driver's side.

Thanks for posting. Need to start looking at it to a 3-D bit to true up the mirror.

You can put the base from the fj62 mirror on the 70 series mirror. That’s what I did so I wouldn’t have the gap and the angle would be correct. Worked perfect, and now I have brand new mirrors

That’s awesome. Electrics worked? Did you have to do any modification for the electrical connections or did the plug straight in? You don’t happen to have the part numbers for the mirror you used?

Check to see if CityRacer has gaskets that fit under a 70 series mirror to smooth it out for the 60 door.
