by all means. ill get more/better for you if you want. especially while it's still clean. give my kids one ride and that'll change!! but i agree i think it looks great. you sell good stuff

getting ready for the long weekend. i'm going to do the gear swaps. and por15 the axle housings. hopefully all goes well.

i also punched some holes in my passenger a pillar to install a grab handle. only holes. no threads. i bought a nut sert tool today from princess auto. hopefully there will be an it the fits in the set.

lastly i also bought an aluminum spool gun for my welder. going to try learning to weld aluminum. i have a few projects in mind like a frame for some solar panels at my cabin. also i want to build a new bracket to mount my air compressor, my webasto and an oil catch can from the valve cover all in one mount. should be fun. i doubt ill get to that this weekend but who knows. at least my wife is cool with me using up at least two days to keep going on this one to get it done as son as possible. i'm sure there will always be little things to work on but the main stuff will be finished.

rear axle is apart. one rear spring is off. broke a u bolt. thankfully i have some spares. centre pin on spring broke off so had to make a new one. i'm taking my shims out because i've got a new vibration after i put the sliders on. i have a feeling that as my springs have settled my pinion angle has changed just enough to vibrate again. large side of wedge was pointed to the rear so taking them out should help.

now i'm just tearing into the front axle. hoping to have the front put back together tonight and maybe have the rear diff in. i can paint things tomorrow and monday get things all bolted up again. here's hoping

my e brake is also only working on the rear drivers side. i think the cable junction is supposed to pivot and it's too tight so its not pulling properly on the passenger side. its also not adjusting the passenger side brakes so they're not working as well as they could. ill fix that too. i'm also going to bleed everything again as i don't think i did the lspv last time i bled the brakes. i should to that

front 4:11 are in and one hub is back together. tomorrow the other hub. thankfully i had an extra set of paper gaskets lying around too. didn't expect them to get all torn up as i just did this job a couple years ago but there you have it. always be prepared. i want to por15 the housing but not sure i'll have time this weekend. may have to wait till the spring

ih8thisjob! man this is a pain in the :moon:. i am so sore right now. it's taken about 12 hours of wrenching and i still have one spring to get off and then rebuild the rear axle. front is all done and the rear axle is apart. one spring is fixed. now one to go. hopefully i can get it all assembled and then i'll do fluids and bleed brakes tomorrow. groan. back at it.

i'm addicted what can i say. actually it's unseasonably warm right now. +12 today. should be -10 and it's going to snow this week. i wanted to get it done with before i end up laying on frozen cement to do this job!!

it runs great now. no more spring clunk in the back. i fixed the sloppy bushings while they were off. no more driveline vibration. engine sounds happier at hwy speeds. hopefully nothing leaks now.

only thing is my speedometer is way off. ill live with my gps for now while looking for a fix if it's even possible.

got my back up lights working off the h55 switch. finally!!

also installed another passenger side grab handle. i used the nutsert method super easy. just have to man up to drill a hole in the A pillar. there was already a hole there. just needed to be bigger to get the nutsert through

i just felt through the cloth with a pointer to find the holes and cut a little vertical slit in the cloth over them. then drilled, inserted nutsert and screwed handle on. 10 minute job. i have two short females (wife and mother in law) that will use it frequently!!

Yup one of the things I installed for my wife, she's all of 5', and always uses it. Next is to get sliders when I get a welder.

i went the opposite order. sliders and now a handle. its a nice extra touch when there is a little lift. my bmw seats also have the side bolsters so i actually use the slider myself and i'm 6'2". that way i don't wear the leather on the bolster out so fast sliding over them to get in and out of the truck

i also have to confess that with all the mods i have done i've been trying to keep the character of the late 80s in the truck. i have gone forward today with a very modern mod i hope i don't hate.

background... saskatchewan is a great province but there are a lot of driving tragedies here with rural drinking and driving etc. distracted driving has become a major problem here and there are some new laws coming into effect 2017 with zero tolerance for even touching your phone. therefore i needs a good hands free system to talk with. my job requires me to be on call and i need to be able to respond nearly immediately. i can also take phone calls every 5 minutes when on call therefore it would take me 2 hours to get home if i had to pull over for each call to talk on the side of the road. long story minimally shorter i need a hands free system. while i'm at it i like to listen to music while i drive and i can't touch my phone to change music so a deck with an integrated hands free (in my case i went with carplay) system to control my music. lastly i've found backing up to a trailer a little time consuming jumping in and out to see where my hitch is. i think a backup camera would be nice. the deck i just ordered also had camera mode that i can turn the camera on while driving to check on my trailer (not just while in reverse). i have a m101 i can't even see behind me so this'll be a nice feature. will this keep me from being distracted probably not but at least i'm legally hands free.

i just hope it doesn't screw with the whole classic feel too much.
i went with the pinoeer avh-4200nex head unit. it's got all the features i want plus i can change the backlight buttons to the same green tones the fj62 has already in the dash. it has only a few buttons which also keeps it simple. here's the web picture

ill collect the rest of the stuff for my exchange and sometime likely in the new year ill get it installed.

and no my original perfectly function radio and tape deck isn't for sale. i'm keeping it just in case

Nice. Yeah I haven't had the money for a pair of Jason's sliders plus I need (yes need!!!) a welder so the handle was a quick and easy purchase. I also need new seats and debating on re-upholstering mine or starting the look for PT Cruiser or BMW seats.

It's a 3 way switch , off /on/door. just like the center dome light. the switch for open closed is in the upper door latch.

can any one tell me if the trunk light is just an off on switch or should it go out when the hatch is closed? i don't see a switch to turn it off and it's been so long since i've driven my truck i can't remember!

thanks. ill have to play with that a little to see if i can get it working again. got some new bulbs to replaces a few burned out ones. i am still thinking of doing LEDs around the truck but feel like i should take a short break from buying stuff for it for a while and finish a few projects i have lined up for it. i did get a 500W oil pan heater installed today. that should help with cold starts this winter. i have my webasto sitting on my bench and that's one of the projects that i will tinker with over the winter. i'm going to build a bracket that will go on the firewall/passenger fender that will hold my air compressor, the webasto and have a spot to hang an oil catch can from. once i fabricate that then i'll tinker along with hooking stuff up and cleaning up the engine bay. stuff i can do without down time. i just want to drive it now. thats my thoughts for tonight anyway.

was just reflecting on the driving changes that have occurred since i swapped in the 4:11s. it's so much better. i can cruise highway speeds without the sounding of straining engine. i don't feel i've lost much power. i think ill try to increase off boost fuelling a little. i also noticed how well my brakes are working after properly bleeding them. i had previously forgotten about the lspv but this time i had a ton of air come out. now my brakes are better than they have been since i bought the truck 6 years ago. i'm really loving driving it now. and i trust the brakes enough to let my wife drive it again

just got some new parts to start getting ready to tune things up. i got an egt a fuel pressure sensor and a lcd gauge that reads them all. it'll also read boost. no A pillar gauge cluster for me. is from zeitronix. no pictures yet because it just showed up at the dhl depot. ill pick it up this afternoon. once i get these installed and a compression test done i'll start putting together an intercooler system and a new air box. then some engine bay clean up to go with it. i want to boost to 16-18 psi and maybe do a power rod modification. get this engine breathing better. i'd like to have more power for towing which seems quite easily achieved. i just want to do it in a way ill ensure longevity of the engine as well

it never ends does it!!!
