I have found a FJ 55 in Philippines

It has something i have not seen ...a split rear doors , which years or did all years have that? and then the seller says the motor is original but its a 2.9 toyota B diesel , and a 4 speed 4x4 ? I thought i read here all FJ55 were gas? also its a left hand drives not converted like they do here alot from japan.

thoughts anyone?

seller says its a 73 but i don't think so

cheers, ED

Have seen some crazy things doneto 55 from over there. I would be very cautious.
Ambulance door was an option in the later few years, I reckon it was after 77 but not 100% on that. But I don’t think diesel was factory anywhere. In Australia there was a few dealers offering a Perkins diesel motor swap per delivery.

i am trying to figure out how to post pictures..they are files and will ask wife tonite... i found on a good site that the in asia they did ship with diesels as back in those days here it was considerably less and that motor was one of the ones..then also a 3B version. they are like 4 cyl. 85 hp but good look end.
the doors are original but he modified the real lights for som reason but that can be fixed... this pig is definitely not a concourse potential candidate ! lol... pictures coming... thks for comments

PHOTOS >>>> ok guys wife got them ..amazing
I am computer illiterate... just a old maker hack from mountains of western NC .....

Now 30 plus years in Philippines making furniture... a whole other story...

So hear we go.... I was looking a a 2017 dubai 70 series immaculate with 4k on it and the classic diehard 6 cyl motor on one of the PHIL used car sites..like 60kusd fully paid duty and tax...( can buy in Dubai new for 37K ) so the price is killing me.

Now i am looking thru the site hoping for a better deal and find this 6 month old listing...i text the no. and presto they say still for sale... ( i figure out why later when i look up location and its REMOTE..very remote like 15 hrs plus by normal car... talking deep jungle gotta have a seal team with me to pick up)

So i ask what the price , the condition etc and he sends me this..seller is in a mine in west congo and wife wants it gone... Its got the 2.9 4 cyl diesel motor ( low power but solid low-end tractor pull) which it appears in Asia was not uncommon and its also a original LHD . He says i can drive it home good condition.

The rear lights appear to be modified based on all photos i can find...anybody ever seen that light configuration?

thoughts comments very welcome before the plunge!

i was more thinking of taking it back towards original or does everyone think thats a waste of time... seems from alot of threads many have started with a whole lot worst and over time and a whole lotta work came out pretty good.

thanks for the advice! we just don't have all the options in Philippines that one has in usa or the level of enthusiasts like USA ..so we have to run with what we bring to track as they say!

I wouldn’t off-camber that height but it looks tough!

I also dig the mini truckers-mirrors, wonder what they are off?

As mentioned, finding “stock” to go back probably shouldn’t be in your plans if you buy it.

Oh...no picture of rear end?

Thks I am going to fly up to that province and rent a bike and ck it out. I am sure there be some putty on that thing but I have full metal casting foundry with a tinsmith group for fanning concrete molds so I m not too scared of the body work.
More concern is motor drive train differentials hubs etc
Then all the cosmetic stuff seals glass condition hardware etc
We shall see
