...And when I do a kill switch, it will not only cut the ignition power (or some critical circuit), it will also short that circuit to ground, so that if they try to hotwire, it will melt the hot wire (and hopefully burn their hands) This can be done with a hidden DPDT switch.

The goal is not 'theft proof' - it's to make it 'less appealing that something else' so they go away.

They were in storage in the CA central valley. It was April 2020.
When I first heard this, it made me feel horrible. I hate thieves. Especially the ones who steal for profit and not for food. I am sure you have the frame number / VIN so if in the future the global people trying to capitalize on the up values may be found.

That's terrible, could likely be in Mexico from there. ☹️

I used to use the Kryptonite though the steering wheel around the three on the tree but that would never stop anyone serious. In many pieces at the moment but probably going to have to have mine very insured or parked behind gates or garaged combined with some other trick to feel safer in the city.

YSK Mexico is a very unlikely destination for stolen 40's, 43's, 45's an 60's. There's just no parts for them and there is virtually no market for them.

It wouldn't make sense economically speaking. A more recent Pick Up might be more attractive, repairable and sellable too.

The most stolen vehicle here is the Nissan NP300 Pick Up as there are plenty of them, plenty of parts and they don't stick out like a sore thumb.

Anyway, that's just my two cents.

Hope you find your rigs man.
