I assume you mean the front seats? Pappy can tell you what he used in his 40. No offense, but unless you really want to keep the seats stock, I would think you could do a lot better than the originals. It seems that Pappy used the bucket seats from a Celica and they're very nice.

If you're looking for the back jump seats, I think those can be hard to find. I'm not a 40 guy, so I'm sure there are others that know more about this topic than me.

I have a set of stock back jump seats from my 1980 in good to excellent original condition that I no longer need if the OP or anyone else needs them.

I am interested - are they the short or long seats?

Short. They're here at my place in Texas but I could bring them next time I'm there if you're not in a tearing hurry for them.

I have some long seats for sale. PM me if interested.

No hurry - what condition are they in - PM me for price :)

Thanks!

I will charge my camera batteries and take some photos for you, but they were in quite good condition when I removed them. I have no idea what these things go for but I'm more interested in helping a fellow HDC / mudder with something I don't need any more than trying to retire from a single sale. :)

FWIW, one of the best mods I did to my old 40 was to dump the stock seats and put in some racing buckets. Boneyard seats work well too - I think O'Niell used some from a Civic and they were really comfy. Or keep the buckets you have unless they have big issues.

The seats in there are shot. They need foam and a recover. I think the front part of the cage was homebuilt and egronomics didn't really play into building that part of it (either that or there is a huge size difference between myself and the fabricator. I am not saying I won't go back to buckets at some point, just for now, stock is easier to get back to while I work on the little stuff. Besides, I got a great deal on the factory seats, which if I decide to get rid of, I could nearly give away and come out on top.
