FJ40 radiator?

anyone have a FJ40 radiator lying around? good or bad doesn't matter too much. I'd like a decent one eventually, but a bad one for mock up will do.

my goal is to use the FJ40 rad to cool the 1FZ with a Ford Taurus electric fan. the 40 rad will fit way better between the headlights and the fan I got fits it perfect too. my worry is, will that radiator be enough to cool that motor.

Probably not if it is going to pull the weight of a loaded wagon at highway speeds in 100* summer.

hmm, good thought. I anticipate the vehicle weight to be about 1000 lbs less than a built 80. that may be optimistic, but it will be lighter. I posted this on another thread at the same time and had a guy say he used a 40 rad for a 2UZ with mechanical fan and no shroud. probably a 40 at 4-4.5k lbs. I hope to end up at 5-5.5k or less. I think I'll shoot for it for now. it is a fairly easy switch since the 40 rad is thick. I won't have to move the engine or front clip to fit something else. and it sure would make fab up easier. maybe wishful thinking.

When you get there, they make a larger 4 core radiator for the 40s. I run one on mine.

I think I had one on my 40 as well. I will probably get aluminum also. some extra to help.

do you know if it's the stock 3 core or a 4? I'd be interested in buying it if it's 4. otherwise I'd like to at least take a look at it to see the mounting flanges and how it sits in the bracket. with that, I should be able to fab it all in with the bracket I have.

I am betting that its a three core and it has been repaired at some point. I also need it around for some more mocking up for my 1HZ, but you are more than welcome to come over and look at it or borrow it. It just needs to wait till next week.
