Pictures from the early 70's

Probably the first SBC into a 40 in NZ
Used a th400 auto with AA-7 adapter

Ran 15.6 in the quarter with full top and doors
Never tried with the top on the strip, with the windscreen (NZ talk) down.

Note the Armstrong TruTrac's boy those thing squeal on corners and doing peels.
Very fun machine for a 20 year old.

Used be light green the only color you could get in NZ in the early 70's They where assembled in NZ and came in CKD (completely knocked down.)

Great thread brings back good memories.

Thanks jb

More Pictures

Header are made 1 5/8 tube with larger radius bends than can be obtained currently
The collectors where hand built as I couldn't source any easily in NZ in the early 70's

Have got other pictures buried in the basement somewhere. Will post more if I can find them, if you cruiserheads are interested.

Sorry for the sideways pictures.

Thanks for looking.

One more

Some of the country we used to go wheeling in
South of Tokoroa NZ.
Not many people wheeled at that time I had people tell me I was stupid for doing it. They just had no idea how much fun it is. Still fun almost 40 years later.
I think there was only one year since 1972 that I didn't have a TLC. I know I went through withdrawal for that year, wasn't fun.

Thanks jb

Thought I might as well bump this thread with a few 40-series photos I took in April 1976.

Cripes - I wonder if all the owners/drivers are still alive today?

It's a boghole just north of Auckland. (Some old Limeworks near Warkworth sort-of rings a bell.):

And one more.

(I can remember the nickname of the owner of the vehicle in the second photo of the last post as "Mickey Duck". And he had this name painted on his truck too - And I think he sometimes had a "rubber duck" fitted as a hood emblem.)

Good kiwi weather as you can see!!!!!!! (Hope you Aussis are jealous!)
