My first experience with Land Cruisers was my uncle’s red FJ40. 327 w/ 3spd manual. This picture was from one of our big fall family camping trips. Usually happened during the World Series, so the radio would be on as we played until dark with all of the cousins. Great times.
Interesting picture. Guessing around 1967 FJ43. Is the man inspecting the cargo British?
Wonder if the picture above doesn't show a second person with sub machine gun like this picture. Wonder what the counter band they are searching for. Drugs, weapons. What ever it is they are serious about it.
Crazy location for the spare tire. Might soften the impact if hit something in the front. But would kill the radiator and your not going very far.
Can also see why they loved the Land Cruiser. But with the way they loaded them down probably had little resell value.

I just "re-found" this thread and thought I would drop some pics I found of my first Cruiser. I think they were taken in 78/79.
The Blue 40 was my first Cruiser friend. I still find it wild how we gravitate towards other Cruiser owners even back then.

I think this may have been my second year of ownership, 1981, on vacation in California I had to see this place in person.
