Outstanding job, Any way to post some pictures of the way you stretched your frame? Tried your link and no workie

Thanks
Scott

Sweet rig I was just thinking of somethin like this, but a full cab with a 2 or 3 foot bed, anyone seen one like that? Awesome work!

soft top

Sweet build! Looks sharp.

I have a question about the soft top and the half doors. I was wondering if you have something fancy for door uppers or windows?

Thanks,

awp

Right now i have full soft doors and soft 1/2 doors. I am going to make some hard lower doors with soft removable uppers.

That rig looks familiar.....it is sitting out behind the shop. Unfortunately it never got finished and it probably never will be.

might be now. dad started it years ago, then sold everything when he moved back to denver. most of the cruisers went to jeremiah, but this one went to some other guy, but he may have given up on it.

Yeah thats close is it a full cab? Or lil shortened with full body?
The body is just a stock FJ40 with a cut down hardtop. The cab is a little bigger than a 45 cab but not by much. It would be a fun project to finish but I doubt we ever will. Any takers?

It has been sitting out back behind the shop for about 2 years and it is missing the entire front clip and front axle at this point.

Nice truck. Did you have the top custom made? Who made it?

I had a local upholsterer make it to my specs. Are you the guy that gave Don @ Wolf Creek Rod Works some t-shirts ? The guy that made my top does the upholstery for Don's custom builds.

Mike, that is so sweet! Jeep enthusiasts have kits to make a "Brute" - a Jeep pickup basically out of their TJ, maybe you could make kits for Cruisers! :)

I never did get a chance to look at it really close during Cruise Moab, how did it do on the trails? Did you like the wheelbase?

Making a kit might be a bit of a task as you need to extend the frame and relocate the rear axle, But we are in the process of making another x-cab like mine with a hard top. This one is going to be the one we think Toyota should have built.
I really did'nt notice the xtra wheelbase from 105 to 114. It felt the same as it did before, and it wheels like a banshee.
I set up the 1/4 elliptical leaf packs too soft initially, and had to rebuild them and relocate the mount @ the frame after CM'09. Now i can haul 4-500 lbs in the bed and it only sags about 1", and got rid of the body roll which is sweet.
Next phase is to pull the h42/Rockbox/Orion drivetrain and bolt up an H55/splitcase for better long distance travel.

hey man, how long is the cab from the door post to the back? I am building mine now and am thinking on how long to make the cab.
nice job by the way!

There is a step in the tub of a 40 right behind the seats. If you look under the truck you will see a seam, that is how far back mine is. I cut the tub leaving that flange you will see, and then drilled it and rosette welded that to the new rear of the tub. Its about proportion and how it looks to you. HTH.

it is about proportion...that doesn't help.:flipoff2: i know the step. i have a cut at the rear of the door post and at the top of the step. i made my trailer at that spot. :D the distance i was planing was about 14" from back of door post to rear of cab. how does tha compare to yours? here is a link to my plans.project-16:D
