I just put a real one on the LV, but those repros just look too real, are just too cool, and too cheap to pass up. I'm in for 2.

A little off topic but has anyone here ever started their F motor by cranking it by hand or is it for other purposes?

I've started a '78 2F with a crank. Best to warm up the engine first. You need to rotate the crank until you get to a compression stroke and then give it a sharp yank. You don't try to crank the engine around and around with the handle. It's not easy to turn, but not impossible. I'd hate to start a cold or out-of-tune engine with a crank, however.

Cautionary note - a backfire can send the crank backward and shatter your wrist. A tractor guy suggested making and putting a PVC pipe 'sleeve' over your wrist when crank starting, but it would seem to be quite uncomfortable and who knows what real protection it would supply.

PTO winches eliminate the ability to crank start, FWIW.

I'd do it a few times for kicks or for a crowd, and then find a new hobby. There aren't too many crank-startable trucks in the world - just another neat 'cruiser oddity.
