The stock studs are ~1-1/8" long. Most of the stock alloys have hollows in the correct places, so work fine with 1" spacers. Most steel wheels are flat, so need thicker spacers or modified studs.

I found a set of fjc rims for a good price. Was thinking about painting them to look something like VCCruzr's rig. Problem is my rig is stock, i.e. no lift. What size tyres do you think I could get away with on the new rims?
The tyre pressure sensors are also still installed. Could these be used in some way on an fj80. IOW, what receiver/monitor would I need to have for a tpms tyre sensor?

I swapped my 91 factory wheels with a set of 07 17" FJ wheels, and the one thing I've notice no one ever mentions is that the newer wheels require a different style lug nut than the older wheels. Same pitch, but the newer style fits into the hole rather than sitting on top of the hole.
I think the answer is no but will my 94 FZJ80 absolutely require spacers to accommodate FJ Cruiser 17" wheels with stock tires? I know this was answered here as no, but is anyone actually running FJC wheels without spacers on an 80.
No. Wheel will physically bolt on without interference. It will sit 1” onboard of stock and may induce interference on articulation but from experience it is minimal esp with smaller tires.
Will look fine. Esp if you are flareless. With flares it looks a lil puny but that judgement would be yours.
It looks weird without spacers. I tried a set of Sequoia wheels (17x7.5") from my old 2004 sequoia. They bolt on fine but the track width of the truck is so narrow. These have the same backspacing as all of the other IFS toyota trucks I believe.

I'm wondering if anyone who has gone to a narrower Toyota rim like the FJ Cruiser or Sequoia has experienced the truck being less stable. Can you post your thoughts/experience with that? I love that my 80 feels very planted and I think the wide track (and that I don't have anything on the roof) helps with that. I'd be concerned that narrowing my track will make the truck less stable and more tippy.

I run FJC 17x7.5 steelies on a lot of what I build around here. It is a real popular wheel.
This is my wife's 80 with rock rings and BFG 34x10.5. Very stable on the road
FJC steelie with OEM Toyota caps. I modified chevy clips and welded 6 per wheel
This is a 60 body on an 80 roller with FJC steelies BFG 34x10.5x17 Drives like a dream. has a 6.0L and Tremec 5 speed to a split case with twin sticks
