FJ Summit is a huge FJ cruiser event open to all, especially other Yotas. Last year I was randomly in Grand Junction, CO during this event. Somehow I talked the women I was with (4 of them) to go check this out. Little did I know I was being duped into a trip to the hot springs as well. We spent the day in one of the coolest little towns I've been in, Ouray. It's surrounded by HUGE mountains and looked to be a great place for some wheeling. I really want to go to this and figured I'd ask if anyone else was remotely interested.

Here is the website for more details - FJSummit 2012 National Meet

I was thinking about spending a few days in Moab then off to Ouray, CO for the event.

Ah - if only I wasn't already off 8.4-8.12 for vacation at Shaver Lake, i'd be interested. Have fun if you go!

Ouray is awesome. So is Silverton, Durango, and that whole area. All kinds of great trails and passes. We did Ophir Pass when we were there, and ran part of Alpine Loop, where we camped out. I really wanted to run Imogene and Black Bear passes. IIRC, some of the passes go over to Telluride too.

This is on my bucket list. Not sure about this year though...

Coming from the FJ side of the fence. This is a great event! We should all go!!

That sounds like an awesome event. Definitely on my to do list, unfortunately to do another year, but still on the list. :D

looks awesome, for me that's a big trip, 2 days of driving. I do someday want to go see CO and do some wheeling but if I am going to do it I will for sure be spending at least 1.5 weeks out there and .5 of a week for just the travel. Not gonna happen for me this summer.

Shaver Lake is on the bucket list. We expect a full report upon returning! Enjoy!

If there was surf in CO - I would live there. I absolutely love southern CO.

So are you in?!?

Hopefully I can go and write up a report that would "light a fire" under you guys who are itching to go the following years.

I would suggest taking the 80. I can't imagine what your kidneys would do to you on a 14 hr trip in the 40.

I've made the drive from so cal to so co. It's not too bad, about 14 hours. The only part that has me sketched out is the mountain pass through Utah. The winds get really crazy up there. They almost blew me off the road while in the GX.

I'm starting to plan this trip out. I'll have some more details as to when and how long I plan on being gone in the very near future. It all depends on the little ladies and if they want to come or not.

Nice find Mike. I will actually be in CO this weekend, Durango and Grand Junction to be exact. I'll have to ask around about this if I see any Cruiser heads.

Unfortunately I'll be in a different set of mountains during this FJ Summit but it looks like a fun trip.

Look forward to all the pics that you'll post!

Mike, when are you planning on.attending? This year or next? This year wont be good for me, maybe 50/50. You have to register to attend but if a group of 80s happen to be in Ouray at the same time...

I really want to go this year, but I just got word I might have to be in Hawaii for work related reasons.
My woman's best friend's parents have a ranch in grand junction. Her bbf comes home every summer, she lives in hawaii, and we take a road trip to GJ. But since I might be in Hawaii in July, I'll probably take my girls to their BFF/ aunt.
I'll know more in a weeks time...

I am interested. The only problem for me is it is difficult to take time off during summer.

I will be checking the dates and looking to see if it is even remotely possible.
