Ok got it. I did not think many people liked fiberglass for Cruisers? Don't want to sound like a snob. I am just old school, never really like Corvetts much either. :D

I agree, I'm not one for fiberglass either and would much rather have sheet metal. But, the ones on the ToyoCap page appear to be fiberglass too, which made me think Gozzard could easily reproduce them here in NA versus trying to import them from Brazil if someone was interested in the ToyoCap product.

I remember seeing that Matts 40 was fiberglass, but I would be willing to bet that if Matt had it to do over again, he would go with steel. I saw the pics of the white bodies at Toyocap, but I was hoping they were steel, not fiberglass. I know it is big in the hotrod industry, but just not my favorite. Happy New Year to all.

O.K.:hhmm: So at this point one of us needs to call down to Toyocap and verify whether or not the bodies are made of steel or fiberglass and actual cost of the unit. This brings us to the next ? How many of us are willing to put up some funds for the cause? That is buying and furnishing the body to a steel fabricator who at a reasonable fee would be willing to fab the body for MUD members. And of course this is if we can find a steel fabricator willing to take on this task.

Hell, there isn't even a steel fabricator in the U.S. willing to refab the land cruisers we have here now. The best work seems to be coming out of Panama.

Wasn't Ehsan in Pakistan contemplating doing this? Great fabricator and good prices too. I think he already has access to a double cab over there.

Found the link to the thread about Ehsan and crew building tubs and bodies:

Here's the pic of the rig he has in Pakistan to use as a template:

Thats a good idea; Ehsan allready has an established shipping rout, and the more who buy the cheaper they get.

if we get enough bandeirante's imported....maybe there can be a bandeirante Forum here on mud and my bandeirante threads can be put to good use and out of chat

The 1st person to buy one here on mud gets my supply of Bandeirante owners manuals and mb engine manuals that i have in PDF

I contacted Toyocap in Sao Paulo Brazil and received some information from a gentleman named Lucio. He mentions that Toyocap specializes in Bandi and the body parts posted on their website are made of stell and are original parts restored/reconditioned.

According to Lucio, the FJ40 has the same frame as the Bandi BJ50 L or LV, but the LWB 50LV-B is longer for the extended cab. Only a feel 2001 models came with the four door package so they are difficult to find.

I'm waiting to receive some pictures of what he has on hand.

I love the last pic/link. The detail on the sides with the pressed-in panels is a really cool look!
Maybe I'll build that one first....after my 40 and following the 45LV :)

Hi,

I'm planning to build my hybrid FJ45-Bandeirante during this year.

I live in Chile and hope I will find here a 1985 FJ 45 soft top for a good price (don't know how much yet :-) ).

Also, I'll be traveling to Brazil during this year for professional reasons so during my visits to Sao Paulo I can find more documentation as well as go to local dealers and look for special parts. No monetary compromise yet, but my visits might help to establish communication with local providers. I speak fluent Portuguese, so I can help to translate tricky manuals.

I will need advisory on how to modify the frame an so on.

Best regards,

Hello there
Yes. I have been doing research and some thinking and planning at my end. We may be able to get this into production if there is enough interest for 10 bodies.
