Well, I don't have a Brazillian connection, but thought I would contribute to the cause.

with a 4door for sale. Too bad it is too new to import without a costly RI.

However, there is an alternative. Instead of tracking down a 4door Bandi, you could always build your own.

Unfortunately, I don't think the exchange rate makes this a viable alternative.
1.00 BRAZIL REAL (BRL) = 0.5616 US DOLLAR (USD). Doesn't sound too bad, but when you consider this 1983 4door Bandi (eligible for immediate import) is 65,000BR...

It costs $36,500 USD and it isn't even imported yet.

If anybody has a contact in Brazil, it would be interesting to see what the price list is from Toyocap on their replacement panels. Can't tell in the pictures if they are metal or fiberglass.

I have been looking but can not find out the answer to this question. Are the Bandeirante's exactly the same as a Cruiser or are there only slight differences like the name and few physical items? Also seems like all the Brazilian trucks are diesel's though they do not look like Toyota engines.

They use a Mercedes diesel instead. The rear door is a swing out, the kick vents seem to come in different sizes, the aprons have Bandeirante stamped into it, and the bib looks to be slightly different. It would be nice if the frames were identical and the body mounts matched.

That is what I have been trying to find out, will the body bolt to a cruiser frame bc I have an extra 65 FJ45LV frame that I could use for a custom build. I am doing one LV not and have no desire to do another, but the frame and stuff is easy so if I could find a nice new body? I was looking at Aqualu bodies but not sure about the aluminum route? I would feel better if it was a real cruiser body. The other things you mention I noticed but those are easy to change.

I think we have a Mud member that is in San Paulo. We need to solicite his expertise.

the wheelbase on the bandis' is definetly longer so an LV frame will not work. the LV shares the same frame with the swb45 except for a pair of body mounts. you'd have to stretch the frame or build a custom frame.

How much and where would the frame have to be stretched? I have read some posts on Mud about frame repairs etc. I have also had a couple of my work trucks stretched. My truck company only charged my $500.00 if I remember to lengthen the frame to accept a different body. The big question is, are the body panels of the Bandi's the same as Cruisers? To me if they are not identical I am not sure I would want one bc the value might to be there come resale time, if you know what I mean.

most bandi bodies are identical in proportion to cruisers...most latter bandis came with a shorter wheelwell in rear area...to better accomidate spare under and bench seat...early bandis should be almost same to fj40 AFAIK

anything bandi55's (extended cab or crew cab) would have body mount areas different a strech of the frame most likely would have been in the center area.

buying an oj55 frame is still a possiblity...as well as a complete bandi body...had a guy find that out a few years ago...TOYOTCAP still lists the bodies...but i had heard they are in limited supply...if you are going this rout move quickly :)

JohnnyC, very interesting info. I happen to have an extra fj55 frame with title. Did you ever get any pricing on the extended cab or crew cab bodies?

Wow! This is moving along great. I've been out sick w/the flu for the past couple of days. JohnnyC, Hello. Merbesfield, Hello. So it looks like the best way to go is to acquire the body first and then accommodate the frame to fit the body. Could one of u post the cost of the tub and availability and I'll look into shipping for us.

Thanks,

Ready.

It could be worth getting one over here and seeing if Gozzard can't reproduce them.

If Gozzard dicided to make one of these from a copy I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. Especially if its a double cab. I would even be willing to donate some funds for allocating a good body from Brazil, if Gozzard was willing to make reproductions.

Who is Gozzard? I did ask lomusass if he could/would do it, but have not gotten a reply. He is certainly capable.

Happy new year to all.

It looks like Gozzard Composits does some awesome work, but still would like to see some one in the sheet metal industries make or give it a try to replicate the entire body. I'm also in for putting some funds together for bringing a Bandis body in from Brazil for a sheet metal shop to try and replicate or even Mike Gozzard for this matter.

Does anyone know the details on how TLC of Van Nuys CA. brought their units in? It would be interesting to find out their details.
